🥋🇺🇸 HISTORY MADE: TAEKWONDO DAY IS OFFICIAL IN NEW YORK STATE! 🗽

September 4th has long been celebrated throughout the Taekwondo community as Taekwondo Day — and now, because of the hard work of Taekwondo schools, masters, instructors, students, families, and supporters across New York, it is officially recognized by the State of New York!

During Taekwondo Month in New York State, schools across the state came together to give back to their communities, including hosting community self-defense classes and other outreach programs that demonstrated the positive impact Taekwondo has beyond the dojang.

We are incredibly grateful to Assemblyman Josh Jensen for championing this effort and getting the official resolution passed. 🙏🇺🇸

This is bigger than one school or one organization. This belongs to the entire New York Taekwondo community.

Because of everyone who participated, promoted Taekwondo Month, opened their dojangs to their communities, and helped make our voices heard, the September 4th celebration we have recognized for decades is now officially recognized in the State of New York.

It was an amazing weekend at the WTA 세계태권도연수원 Master Certification Course in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

More than 100 Masters completed the course and are now awaiting their official test results. This was a truly special opportunity to learn from and train alongside some of the highest-ranking Grandmasters from 국기원 Kukkiwon, who shared their knowledge, experience, and passion to help Masters continue to grow as instructors and leaders.

A very special thank you to Grandmasters Kim Bong-hwan, Kang Ik Pil Kang, Dae Sung Chung, and Jae Yoo Ahn for their tremendous work, dedication, and leadership throughout the course. Your commitment to developing the next generation of Taekwondo Masters is an inspiration to us all.

And a special thank you to Master Dae Hyun Kwon for his hard work and dedication in helping make this incredible event possible. 🙏

We were also honored to meet Mayor John E. McCormac of Woodbridge, NJ, who stopped by to experience the event and wish all of the Masters good luck! 🇺🇸

🥋🔥 What a busy start to August for 국기원 Kukkiwon & WTA 세계태권도연수원

From the World Taekwondo Hanmadang in Korea, to International Master Course training and High DAN testing, it’s been an exciting month of learning, growth, and connecting with Taekwondo practitioners from around the world.

And we’re not slowing down! We’re excited to head to New Jersey at the end of the month for the International Master Course. 🌎🥋

This week, more than 4,200 martial artists from 61 countries gathered at the 2026 World Taekwondo Hanmadang at 국기원 Kukkiwon in Korea to celebrate the art, tradition, and spirit of Taekwondo. From incredible demonstrations and breaking events to poomsae and unforgettable friendships, the Hanmadang reminded us that Taekwondo is about so much more than competition—it’s about bringing people together through respect, perseverance, and a shared passion for lifelong learning.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and represented their schools and countries with pride. We can’t wait to see what next year’s Hanmadang brings!

4 days of physical and theory instruction followed by exams.

👊 Examination Information

A. 3rd Class International Taekwondo Master

Examination Subjects: Color Belt Poomsae, Black Belt Poomsae, Target Kicking

Color Belt Poomsae Range: Taegeuk 4 Jang to Taegeuk 8 Jang

Black Belt Poomsae Range: Koryo, Keumgang, Taebaek

B. 2nd Class International Taekwondo Master

Examination Subjects: Color Belt Poomsae, Black Belt Poomsae, Target Kicking

Color Belt Poomsae Range: Taegeuk 4 Jang to Taegeuk 8 Jang

Black Belt Poomsae Range: Taebaek, Pyongwon, Sipjin, Jitae

※ Detailed examination methods, order, and assigned Poomsae will be announced on-site.

※ Participation in and completion of the course does not automatically mean that the qualification will be issued. Qualification results will be determined based on attendance, course completion, and written and practical examination results.

🧠 Written Examination

The written examination is scheduled to be conducted online.

Participants must prepare a smartphone or personal device with internet access for the written examination.

🎉🥋Congratulations to Master Michael Yuhasz for earning his 국기원 Kukkiwon 7th DAN! Master Yuhasz went through the High DAN video test process a few months ago, and made it official with GM Kim yesterday! Congratulations on a lifetime of Taekwondo sir!
