It was Earnest Koella Jr.'s dream to provide the Knoxville area with a top-notch public golf facility. He wanted not only the best maintained course, but also the best total golf experience. The name "Egwani" is Cherokee for "little river." The Little River borders Egwani for 1.5 miles. This river bottom was once a summer fishing village for the Cherokee. Today, Egwani Farms has gained notoriety for not only being a premier host golf facility for numerous tournaments and events, but for being a course dedicated to accommodating golfers of every skill level.
