This past spring it was great to have a mini RFA reunion -- Samantha, Mia, & Gavi graduating along with Pierre, Lucas, and coach Stu at Wellesley's graduation.

Hello all. Rockville Fencing Academy is proud to offer an Introduction to Fencing for Feds: Free class for federal employees or contractors who have been recently laid-off, furloughed, or in the process of being separated/terminated.

This class provides a basic introduction to foil fencing, a sport is accessible to people of a wide range of ages and physical ability. Each 75-minute session will start with an introduction to/review of basic footwork, followed by blade actions, and end with open bouting. By the end of an eight-week arc students will have a basic understanding of offensive and defensive techniques, and fencing rules and procedures. The class accommodates rolling admission: new students will be brought up to speed whenever they start.

The class is being offered free of charge to federal employees and contractors recently laid-off, furloughed, or who are in the process of being separated/terminated. We hope this opportunity will provide some much-needed stress relief, as well as an opportunity to socialize.

No previous experience or specialty equipment is required.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and champion of Veteran Fencing, Rinaldo A. Campana Sr.

Long before Vet World Team funding existed, Rinaldo stepped in to organize and support our teams, serving as both Head of Delegation and Team Captain. He proudly represented Team USA at nine Veteran World Championships, inspiring fencers with his unwavering dedication, sportsmanship and generous spirit. Our condolences go out to his wife, Carol, and the entire Campana family. You will be missed!

AskFRED is transitioning to a newly developed platform. For a while, we may have to go to the old platform for managing registrations for tournaments already announced, while new tournaments may only appear in the new system.

This is a great analysis of 3-time Olympic champion Áron Szilágyi's defense. Although this is saber fencing, our foilists could also learn a lesson or two about how to keep their opponents at bay, especially in the middle. A lot of it comes down to excellent footwork and the ability to quickly change directions to get in and out of distance.
