I am conducting my doctoral dissertation research at Grand Canyon University and am currently recruiting participants for my IRB-approved study examining how equine-assisted practitioners document and interpret progress among neurodivergent clients.

I’m looking for professionals who:

✔ Have at least 2 years of experience working with neurodivergent individuals
✔ Can participate in one confidential, approximately 60-minute Zoom interview

What if loving a horse could teach you how to love yourself?

Horses have a beautiful way of meeting us exactly where we are.

They don’t care about how we look, what we accomplished today, how many mistakes we made, or whether we feel confident walking into the arena. They simply ask us to be present.

And somewhere in that quiet connection, something begins to change.

A horse can teach us patience when we want to rush.
They teach us trust when we are afraid.
They teach us boundaries when we need to learn that “no” is okay.
They teach us confidence by giving us opportunities to succeed.
And sometimes, they teach us that simply showing up is enough.

There is something incredibly powerful about realizing, “I did that.”

Maybe it was asking a horse to take one more step.
Maybe it was trying something that once scared you.
Maybe it was staying calm when things didn’t go as planned.
Maybe it was simply sitting beside a horse and allowing yourself to breathe.

Those moments become reminders that we are capable.

Horses offer us a space where we can recognize our own strengths, appreciate our progress, and celebrate the person we are becoming.

Self-love isn’t always about looking in the mirror and loving everything we see.

Sometimes, self-love looks like giving ourselves grace.
Sometimes it looks like recognizing our accomplishments.
Sometimes it looks like being proud of how far we’ve come, even when we still have a long way to go.

Let’s talk about creating a “safe space.”

A safe space may look and feel different for everyone. For some, it may be a quiet room. For others, it may be time spent in nature, a familiar place, or simply being somewhere they can let their guard down and feel accepted without judgment.

But what does a safe space look like when you add a horse into that space?

It can become something very different.

There is the quiet of nature. The steady presence of the horse. The opportunity to slow down and step away from the noise and demands of everyday life.

There is no need to rush.

You can begin to notice your breathing. You can become aware of your body. You can learn what calm feels like. You can practice slowing your thoughts and allowing yourself to be present in the moment.

Sometimes, the first step is simply learning how to breathe.

A horse does not ask us to be perfect. They respond to our presence, our movements, our breathing, and our ability to remain present. In that quiet connection, we can begin to learn more about ourselves.

We can learn to recognize when we are holding tension.

We can learn to slow our breathing.

We can learn to tolerate stillness.

We can learn that calm does not have to feel uncomfortable.

And perhaps most importantly, we can learn that it is okay to simply stop for a moment and breathe.

🐴✨ What a way to end the 2026 show season! ✨🐴

This weekend was incredibly special because it was Belle and my final show of the year—and her final show before becoming a mama. 🥹❤️

And I truly couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to close out this chapter.

There have been people who doubted Belle and me because of her size and because she is a Clydesdale.

But I never stopped believing in her.

We kept working. We kept learning. We kept showing up. And most importantly, we kept building our partnership. ❤️

Our weekend started with our schooling show:

🌟 Training Level Test 1 — 64%
🌟 Training Level Test 3 — 62.4%

Our goal was 60% or higher—and we accomplished that in both tests!

Then came our big show, and Belle absolutely showed up. 🏆

🥇 1st Place — Training Level Test 1
🥇 1st Place — Training Level Test 3
✨ 65%+ in Training Level 1
✨ 60% in Training Level 3
🏆 Qualified for Championships!

And some of the individual scores were especially exciting. We received 7s for rider position and 8s on our halts!🥹❤️

For me, those scores are about so much more than ribbons.

They represent the work we have put into developing Belle’s balance, forwardness, connection, correct leads, transitions, and overall confidence. They represent learning to communicate with one another and trusting each other when we walk into that ring.

Belle has taught me that progress doesn’t always happen quickly. Sometimes it takes patience. Sometimes it takes stepping back and trying again. Sometimes you have to believe in your horse even when other people don’t.

And sometimes, the horse everyone underestimates gets to go out there and prove exactly what she is capable of. ❤️

As an equine professional, this journey means even more to me because it reminds me every day why I believe so strongly in partnership over perfection.

Our horses don’t have to fit someone else’s idea of what a dressage horse should look like.

They just need someone willing to listen, learn, believe, and put in the work.

Belle is not just my horse.

She is my partner.
She is my teacher.
She is my heart horse.
And she has taken me on a journey I will forever be grateful for. ❤️🐴

Now we close the 2026 show season and begin a very different chapter. Belle gets to enjoy her well-deserved time off, become a mama, and recover. When the time is right, we’ll slowly begin our journey back into training with our eyes set on First Level. 🎀

I am going to miss walking into that show ring with my girl, but I am so excited for everything that lies ahead.

Two first places. Championship qualified. A season full of growth. And a heart absolutely overflowing with gratitude. 🏆❤️

Thank you, Belle, for never giving up on me.

And to every rider who has ever been told their horse “can’t” do something:

Keep believing. Keep learning. Keep showing up. Your journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

FEAR.

Fear is such a powerful emotion. It can make us question ourselves, doubt our abilities, and convince us that staying where we are is safer than taking a chance.

But what if fear isn’t always a warning to stop?

What if sometimes, fear is a sign that you are standing at the doorway of growth?

Trying something new is uncomfortable. Taking a risk is uncomfortable. Chasing a dream that matters deeply to you can be uncomfortable. And sometimes, becoming the person you know you are capable of becoming requires you to step outside of everything that feels familiar.

Fear can either become the wall that keeps you from moving forward—or it can become the energy that pushes you toward something greater.

Don’t let fear make your decisions for you.

Instead, acknowledge it. Sit with it. Learn from it. And then ask yourself:

What if I tried anyway?
What if I took the next step?
What if the thing I’m afraid of is actually the beginning of something beautiful?

You don’t have to feel fearless to move forward.

You can be nervous and still be brave.
You can be uncertain and still take the leap.
You can be uncomfortable and still grow.

Sometimes the butterflies in your stomach aren’t telling you to turn around. Sometimes they’re reminding you that you are alive, you are growing, and you are stepping into something that matters.

So today, I encourage you to look at your fear a little differently.

Let it excite you.
Let it motivate you.
Let it inspire you.

Take that fear and turn it into movement.

Your dreams are waiting on the other side of the things that make you uncomfortable.

Don’t let fear stop you. Let it propel you.
