If you've ever hosted an event you know NOTHING happens without the help of volunteers! If you're not participating in the 2nd Annual Blazing Paddles Paddleboard, Kayak & Canoe Paddlefest, we'd LOVE your help to host a fun, safe, and memorable event at Merwin's Wharf. We need a few folks for check-in Friday afternoon/evening (June 21) and appx. 15 folks for check in 5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

You'll receive a cool tee and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you helped us host a great commemoration of how the Cuyahoga River has risen like a Phoenix since the '69 fire. Please send us an e-mail with the subject line "Blazing Paddles volunteers" to [email protected]

Course maps for the 2nd Annual Blazing Paddles Paddleboard, Kayak & Canoe Paddlefest are now out!

Paddlers in the 5.7 mile event will turn at the site of the 1952 Cuyahoga River fire (the big one). 13 mile paddlers will turn (twice) at the site of the 1969 Cuyahoga River fire (and pass by the site of the '52 fire twice).

We are SUPER excited to announce that first place winners in the competitive divisions of Blazing Paddles will be awarded an aluminum print by noted Chattanooga photographer Lawson Whitaker. Lawson created the uniquely fab image after his visit to Cleveland last year.

Also a reminder: you can also take your time during Blazing Paddles! You've got four hours to enjoy the Cuyahoga River.
