What a great turnout for our first FC Horizon Summer Open Play session! It was awesome to see so many new faces out on the field.

We mixed up the teams and simply let the kids play. It was fun listening to them talk about the World Cup and then watching them try the same moves they’ve been seeing on TV.

Our Summer Open Play sessions are all about giving players the freedom to make decisions, try new positions, be creative, and most importantly, have fun. It’s also a great opportunity for our coaches to get to know each player and see how they think and play in a relaxed environment.

☀️ FC Horizon Summer Skill Challenge ☀️

The players who improve the most aren’t always the ones with the most talent—they’re the ones who put in the work when nobody is watching.

This summer, challenge yourself to master three game-changing moves:

🔥 The Cruyff Turn – Perfect for changing direction quickly and escaping pressure.

🔥 The Step Over – Create space and beat defenders 1v1.

🔥 The La Croqueta – Move the ball smoothly from one foot to the other to glide past opponents.

Weekly Challenges

Week 1: Cruyff Turn Challenge

* Perform 50 Cruyff Turns per day.
* Use cones or objects as defenders.
* Goal: Execute the turn at full speed without losing control.

Week 2: Step Over Challenge

* Perform 50 Step Overs with each foot daily.
* Finish each move with an explosive touch into space.
* Goal: Beat a cone defender and accelerate away.

Week 3: La Croqueta Challenge

* Complete 100 La Croquetas daily.
* Focus on quick touches and body movement.
* Goal: Move side-to-side while keeping the ball under control.

Week 4: Combine All Three

* Set up a dribbling course.
* Use all three moves during every run.
* Goal: Perform each move naturally without thinking about it.

Summer Goal 🏆

By the end of the summer, every FC Horizon player should be able to:
✅ Perform all three moves with confidence.
✅ Use them at game speed.
✅ Beat a defender 1v1 using at least one of these moves during a match.

Remember: 20 minutes a day for 8 weeks equals over 18 hours of extra training. That work adds up.
