This last lady is a 10yr old from Wheeler Pass HMA. So far this group has been pretty mellow, BUT not this girl. She was pretty aggressive and come at Adam or kick at him. That pole is an extension of our arm, but it can also help us if a mustang or burro decides to charge. You can see when Adam hits the ground or waves her off. What really is happening is she is very scared and felt she needed to defend herself. She was actually shaking from fear, poor girl. In the first sessions with these girls, we like to see where their comfort level is at and then decide if they need to settle in more.

This little lady is also a 2yr old from Wheeler Pass HMA. She was a little more nervous in her first session and wanting to show a little aggression. Adam did get her to get some touches on the pole!

Part 2 Misty.

Misty, 12yr old Wheeler Pass HMA,NV. Part 1 Lots of approaching her to touch the stick. This is the same idea as target training, but because they don't know what treats are yet, or us able to pet to reward, we step back and take off the pressure, along with verbal praise.

What a long day! We made it home safe and sound. Adam and Kathy( one of our adopters) were checking out the babies before we got our girls loaded. We also ran into a lady from South Dakota, who wants to train mustangs, so hopefully she will sign up to be a Branded Partnerships trainer! Everyone is tucked in for the night!

I love going to the corrals! Palomino Valley has always been so nice and helpful. Wonderful employees. We were so surprised at how many young burros we could choose. We pick them up in the morning!! Of course we had to go see the horses too! These horses were the 2 yr olds and mamas and babies from the Owyhee Complex. We didn't walk around to all the other pens, it was getting hot, and this place is so big!! We are really happy with what we pulled and can't wait to show them to our adopters!
