Yesterday, Mayor Donald Shaw joined local families at The Leaguers Inc Preschool for the annual “Dad Walk Your Child to School” event!

The initiative highlights the vital role fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and male mentors play in shaping a child's confidence and character through daily presence and positive engagement.

Mayor Shaw extends his thanks to Leaguers Director Ann Marie Quarrie and Executive Director & CEO Walter K. Frye for bringing the program to Roselle, as well as Linden Mayor Derek Armstead for attending in support of strong family bonds across the community.

Thank you to every male role model who continues to step up and make a lasting difference in the lives of Roselle’s youth!

Mayor Donald Shaw, the Roselle Council, and the Department of Recreation invite the community to the Multicultural Festival on September 19 from 2-10 PM.

Under the theme "One Community. Many Cultures. Endless Celebration," this event features music, cultural performances, food trucks, cultural displays, a kids zone, and various local vendors.

This morning, the Roselle community gathered at Fire Headquarters for a solemn 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. Led by Fire Chief Adrian Perez and Mayor Donald Shaw, members of the Borough Council, Police Department and civic leaders came together to pay tribute to the lives lost and reflect on the strength of the community.

The ceremony featured a moving reflection from Borough Council President Cindy Thomas, who shared how she narrowly avoided being at the World Trade Center that morning. The Fire Department paid special tribute to 23 Roselle firefighters who rushed to NYC to assist in rescue and recovery efforts, presenting each with a custom wooden plaque hand-crafted by Former Chief Christopher Laba.

With active participation from local JROTC members, the morning proved that 25 years later, the bravery of our heroes is remembered and Roselle’s promise to remains as strong as ever.

Join us tomorrow!

Mayor Donald Shaw, the Borough Council, and the Department of Recreation invite the community to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary on Saturday, September 12.

The parade kicks off at 10 AM at Borough Hall (210 Chestnut Street) and marches to the Abraham Clark House on Chestnut Street & W 9th Ave. Following the parade, stick around for refreshments and festivities in the Borough Hall Parking Lot.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation changed forever. Mayor Donald Shaw and the Borough Council honor the memories of the thousands of lives lost on September 11, 2001, and pay tribute to the heroics of the first responders and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to save others.

Time passes, but our promise remains unshaken: We will never forget.
