Two years ago, this young man walked into the gym and no games, no excuses, just pure work. I still remember the Mexico flag design on his gloves and how he’d show up every single day in a soccer jersey (90% of the time a chivas jersey🔥).

When he stepped into the ring to compete, the titles followed immediately. He never backed down from the toughest matchups or the biggest challenges. Whenever he hit a roadblock or took a lesson, he didn’t fold or switch coaches he just came back hungrier and harder.

He once told me he was going to fill the walls of this gym with championship banners. In two years, and he just brought home his THIRD championship. I can say he is a man of his word. Couldn’t be prouder of you, Yayito. Keep building that résumé.

I’m not gonna lie when Diego first walked into the gym, I didn’t think he’d last a week. Glasses on, looking more like a bookworm than a fighter. I remember thinking to myself, yeah, he won’t be here long.

He proved me dead wrong.
He stayed. Then he started sparring. Then he started competing. Fast forward to now, and the man has over 40 fights under his belt, throwing hands with some of the best boxers in the country and he’s still going.

Like all of us, he’s in there facing his demons. You can just tell he does this for something bigger than himself.

That’s why I love this game. Boxing puts everything about you on blast, and it’s completely up to you to change it.
The crazy part? Diego didn’t do any of this out of some deep love for the sport or dreams of going pro. This is the same guy I once asked to name 5 boxers, and he couldn’t. He fights for one reason only: to better himself. That’s it.

Today was another one of those days where we both learned a lot together.

I just want to say, I love you Diego. I’m proud of the balls you have to keep stepping up and pushing to get better. But always remember: love Diego first, above anything else.

The dollar amount shouldn’t be the roadblock. If you want a business that grows, you HAVE to invest. Stop finding excuses and pay someone who knows the game to show you the moves. 📈💥

36 trips around the sun. ☀️

I was dealt a hand most people would’ve folded. Instead, I played it, stayed in the game, and turned it into a win.

Looking around today, I’ve got everything I could ever want: a beautiful wife, amazing kids, a dope ass home, health, a career I’m proud of, and the dream truck sitting in the garage.

Grateful for the journey, the grind, and everyone in my corner. Let’s keep transforming lives!

When parents bring their kids to boxing, I try to set the expectation early: we’re here to teach them how to box and build real discipline. We’re not an amusement park, and we’re not here to make sure they have the time of their life every single day.

Sure, we throw in fun games occasionally, but 99% of the time? We’re putting in work. And real work isn’t always fun.

When your kid says they want to quit, don’t just pull the plug. Talk to the coach first and set a concrete goal for them to work toward treat that goal like the end of a season. Do not let them quit mid-season, after a tough sparring session, or following a bad day at the gym. Make them see it through to the finish line, and then reassess if they want to keep going.

Discipline isn’t built when things are easy; it’s forged when things get uncomfortable. That’s how you raise strong, resilient, and productive individuals. 🥊💯

Growing up around undocumented immigrants, I saw hard work in its rawest form: seven days a week, two jobs, and zero time to actually live. I was raised on the belief that if you didn’t have a job you were lazy, and if you worked two jobs you were a hard worker.

When I started coaching at 16, my world completely cracked open. I saw people who were wildly successful, had weekends off, and actually enjoyed their lives. Over time, I noticed something that hurt to admit: despite all those endless hours, my family wasn’t really advancing. While legal status and systemic barriers played a massive role, I realized another critical truth you can work hard, but still not be efficient.

My family was working hard, but we weren’t working towards anything. The successful people I was surrounded by had clear goals, blueprints, and direction.

That shift in perspective changed everything for me. I kept the same relentless work ethic I learned from my family, but I pointed it in a specific direction. Hard work gets you through the day, but directional, efficient work is what actually elevates your life.
Stop just working hard start working towards something. 📈
