Join us in congratulating Matt on his promotion to purple belt. Matt trained at another gym, life happened and he took some time off. But he’s back at with us and putting the time in.

Next up is KJ! He just graduated — earned a master’s in speech pathology — which will help him communicate with the rest of us knuckledraggers! Professor striped him up too; got a full zebra on his belt now.

And last but not least, Coach Jeff added a stripe to Florian’s belt and his son John’s belt.

Well deserved gents! Keep showing up. OSS!

Full class tonight! Couple new faces here and brave souls taking a trial class (if you are thinking about trying it too - just do it!). Also good to see Professor Big Mike back on the mats — adding his wisdom to teaching and strictly technical rolls with upper belts.

Last month we said farewell to this dynamic father and son duo as they’ve moved out of state. Josh has been a fantastic training partner, kids coach and hosting early morning fundamentals classes for adults. Jr. has been just a pleasure in the kids class - focused!

We are also lucky to count them both as friends, which speaks to one of the most under recognized benefits of jiu-jitsu for newcomers: community.

Jiu-jitsu is a community, too. Strong bonds are forged by doing something hard together.

We are going to miss these two, but wish them well. We’re certain we will see you again out on the BJJ trail in the future.

We’re super proud of our competitors today who left it all on the mats at ATL today. It was the first time competing for some of them. Some won, some learned, all did a good thing for a good cause. Many thanks to Prof. Big Mike for coaching and the handful of teammates there to cheer them on. OSS!

Mickey went 5-0 and beat a really good gray belt in the finals of his 7 man Gi bracket!!

Jack got second in Gi after losing two close matches in No Gi. He came back and beat a kid who beat him in No Gi to get second place.

We are proud of both boys!!
