Autumn Blaze is bringing two days of fall fun to Rural Retreat Lake on Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3. Admission is FREE!

Friday, Oct. 2 | 6–8 p.m.
Kick off the weekend with live music from Victor Lawson and Boogie Chillen, plus craft vendors and food trucks.

Saturday, Oct. 3 | 11 a.m.–9 p.m.
There’s something happening all day:
• 11 a.m. | Touch-a-Truck opens, featuring fire trucks, emergency vehicles and more. Open until 4 p.m.
• “Truck or Treat” | Time TBA
• 11 a.m. | Craft vendors open
• 11 a.m.–2 p.m. | Live music from Wylee & The Coyotes
• 11 a.m.–3 p.m. | Festival Fun
• 3–5 p.m. | Live music from 21 Blackbirds
• 6–9 p.m. | Live music from Al G & Friends Band

Festival Fun from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. includes a mechanical bull, two-seat bungee trampoline, Wipe-Out course, Dalmatian bounce house and slide, and boxing ring.

Plus, enjoy food trucks, fire prevention activities, kids' activities, hayrides, and more throughout the event.

Wythe County Launches Online Survey for Land Use Classification Ordinance

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. – Wythe County has launched a new online survey to gather additional public feedback on the proposed Land Use Classification Ordinance.

The survey asks a series of questions designed to provide the county with more comprehensive feedback about the proposed zoning ordinance, including residents’ priorities, concerns, and overall sentiment as the review process continues.

Residents are urged to review the proposed zoning ordinance and related information before completing the survey. For those that may need assistance accessing or completing the online survey, staff at the three Wythe County branches of the Wythe-Grayson Regional Library in Wytheville, Fort Chiswell, and Rural Retreat can provide assistance.

The draft ordinance, frequently asked questions, additional information, and the online survey are available at https://vist.ly/5ixte.

Public feedback collected through the survey will provide another opportunity for residents to share their perspectives as the county continues its review of the proposed ordinance.

It’s a big day in Rural Retreat this Saturday!

The fun starts at Rural Retreat High School, where youth tackle football takes over the field with five matchups throughout the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Then head to Rural Retreat Lake for an afternoon and evening of FREE entertainment:

4 p.m. – Last Stand by the Lake
All-Star Entertainment Pro Wrestling brings the action to the lake with FREE admission.

6 p.m. – Craig Vaughn
Stick around for a live acoustic set by Craig Vaughn.

Come hungry, too! Rose’s Kettle Corn and Sweet Mountain Snow will be on site with food and treats available for purchase.

The wrestling and live music at Rural Retreat Lake are completely FREE, so bring the family, enjoy the lake and make a day of it in Rural Retreat!

Wythe County Parks and Recreation is looking for local makers, artisans, direct sales vendors, food trucks, and more to join us for Autumn Blaze on October 2 and 3.

There are no vendor fees in 2026, with opportunities to participate Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Showcase your business, crafts, products, or food while being part of a full weekend of fall fun and fire prevention activities at Rural Retreat Lake.
