It's search and rescue (SAR) season. Statistically speaking, there's something sinister about sunny Sunday afternoons in the spring...

Out of 400+ National Park Service units, Buffalo National River rates #13 for the number of SAR incidents annually. The majority of these incidents are preventable. Discover what you need to know BEFORE you go: https://www.nps.gov/buff/planyourvisit/prevention.htm (lr)

02/18/2022 River Condition Update: The entire Jacks Fork and Current Rivers remain CLOSED. This closure applies to privately-owned vessels, as well as concession rentals.
*River closures are implemented to ensure safety of visitors and emergency personnel. When river levels are up, conditions can be extremely dangerous for non-motorized vessels. Dangers include high volume of swiftly flowing water, muddy conditions making submerged hazards hard to spot, and gravel bars being underwater, making it difficult for floaters to self-rescue if capsized.
