Welcome back to RCPS and to RIS! We are so lucky to have Mrs. Brodowski joining the RIS team.

Welcome back to the RCPS family, Abby Brodowski!

Abby is returning to our district in an exciting new leadership role as the Coordinator of Instruction for Rutland Intermediate School!

Many of you will remember Abby from her prior time with RCPS, where she taught 9th-grade English and PLACE internship classes at Rutland High School for six years and served as our District Recovery Coordinator for three years. She brings 15 years of education experience back home to Rutland, most recently serving as Associate Principal at Otter Valley High School.

Here is a quick snapshot of Abby behind the scenes:

Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA

Home Base: Brandon, VT (Forest Dale), where she lives with her husband (art teacher!), two kids (ages 10 and 13), two cats, and a leopard gecko named Kevin.

Hobbies: Riding her e-bike around Lake Dunmore, reading everything she can get her hands on, and bringing bright, positive energy to work every day.

We are so fortunate to have her expertise, leadership, and great spirit back in our district at RIS. Help us give Abby a warm Rutland welcome back in the comments below!

The RIS crew is back and hard at work preparing for an amazing school year! There’s already a lot of excitement and energy in the building, or at least in the office for now! We can’t wait to welcome our incredible staff and students back and fill the halls with the enthusiasm, laughter, and learning that make RIS such a special place.

The Golden Apple recognizes educators and school professionals who exemplify outstanding professionalism, collaboration, innovation, and advocacy on behalf of students with disabilities. Golden Apple recipients are known for creating inclusive opportunities for all students, building on individual strengths, working collaboratively with families and colleagues, and demonstrating compassion in everything they do.

The Golden Apple Award celebrates those who truly make a difference in the lives of Vermont’s students with disabilities.
