Tomorrow, in the fifth class of the 12-Dance Workshop, the class will learn the country-western dance the Horseshoe Shuffle, commonly referred to in country dance circles as just the “Horseshoe.” This is the last new dance the current class will learn from scratch.
The Horseshoe is performed at country-western dance clubs across the country and is one of the most fluid and graceful dances ever choreographed in any genre of dance.

Dance Does Not Discriminate!
Young or old, fit or not, experienced or neophyte, dance is an activity where everyone can participate on their own level and at their own speed. Many people say, “Someday I’ll learn to dance,” however the longer you wait to get started the more months or years of fun you will miss out on.
Remember, no one knew how to dance when they started, they just started and figured it out.

Famous jazz musician from the Big-Band era Cab Calloway inadvertently nicknamed the Lindy Hop the “Jitterbug” when he remarked, “Look at all those fools out there jittering around like a bunch of bugs.”

Regarded by many as the greatest dancing duo of forever, it is often debated who was the better dancer of the two, Ginger Rogers or Fred Astaire. In the debate the words of Ann Richards, former governor of Texas, must be considered: “Ginger did everything Fred did, but she had to do it backwards while wearing high heels.”
We have to agree, that is a fair point. Tell us your view of it!

The difference between people who dance and dancers is oceans apart.
People who dance aren’t overly concerned with technique or improving their skill and are there just to have fun - and there is nothing wrong about that. After all, dancing should always be fun first. However, dancers are a different breed. They have the love of moving to music in their soul and actively seek out places to dance. Dancers have an innate desire to improve through mastering the basic components of footwork, posture and frame, leading and following, turn techniques and understanding the basics of music time and tempo. After mastering the five components of dance, dancers are able to pick up new dances effortlessly and instinctively assimilate new moves.
The Green Mountain Dance Factory’s goal is not simply to teach dancing, but train you to master the fundamentals so you can excel at being a dancer.
