The most common issue I see amongst people starting out in their fitness journey is going hard right away. Before they know it, they’re burnt out and throwing in the towel.

Think slow and steady. Keep it simple. Keep it consistent. Add another goal once you’ve reached the previous one. Stack those habits gradually.

Consistency will always trump perfection and an all or nothing approach.

Training in the gym helps keep me sober. Burning off excess energy, negative thoughts and even cravings. Getting sober has given me the opportunity to help others in their fitness journey. Know that you’re not alone in this fight. If I can change my life, you can too!!

A favorite is the bent over row using an EZ-bar to target my lats. The biceps also benefit as a secondary muscle group. I tend to favor the underhand grip as a personal preference. However, it’s great to use both over and under hand to target upper and lower lats.
