Ice Skating Fun Facts: The first covered rink in the world was built in Québec City in 1852. Today, there are 1,555 indoor rinks in America (according to the International Ice Hockey Federation). Playland Ice Casino was built in 1929 and the facility was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
