Congratulations to Lexie, Cooper and Jordan for being named as 2022-2023 Sierra Nevada Swimming Scholar-Athletes. To be eligible for this award, Sierra Nevada Athletes had to have been in the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th Grade during the 2022-2023 academic year with a minimum GPA of 3.25 or higher. Day 3 Finals Recap

Finals started tonight with the boys in the 200 Fly. Jacob was in Lane 6, Akim in Lane 7 and Cooper in Lane 8. The race quickly turned into a duel between Akim and Jacob. They went held tight with Jacob holding a slight lead as Akim charged to close the gap. In the end Jacob won the DPCC battle, 6 seconds faster than the morning. Akim dropped a further 3 from the 14 he dropped in the morning. Cooper added a third of a second.

Izzy took off over a second and a half in the 100 Back to move up into a 2nd place finish.

Lilla was ready for her final but slipped off the ledge on her start to give her a large deficit at the beginning. She charged as hard as she could but ended up adding a half second in 4th place.

Jordana and Mackenzie both dropped time to earn a new time in their 100 Backs. Jordana finished with a 1:05 and Mackenzie a 1:06.

Lexie took off over a second in her Back to move up 3 spots with a 1:02.

Joey and Jordan both added .05 from their morning swims in the 100 Back in their respective Championship Finals.

Jordana used a speedy breaststroke leg to stage a comeback during free in her 200 IM. She dropped a second to win the Consolation Final.

Joey moved up 5 spots as he dropped a magical 2.19 seconds in his 200 IM to finish 2nd in the Consolation Final.

Akim dropped over a second to make it three and a half subtracted on the day in his 200 IM.

Jordan added .19 in his 200 IM but moved up to 7th overall.

Day 3 Prelims Highlights

Day 3 got started with the 200 Butterfly 💪

- Cooper split a great 200 Fly to earn the 16th spot, just getting into the Consolation Final.
- Jacob placed 14th to also earn a spot in the Consolation Final.
- Akim dropped a massive FOURTEEN SECONDS in his 200 Fly to charge into the 12th position overall. All 3 Pirates will next to each other at Finals!
- Lilla dropped 1.64 in the 100 Back to just miss going under a minute. She’s the #2 seed tonight.
- Jordana dropped a half second in the 100 Back to earn a spot in the Bonus Final.
- Mackenzie took off 3.63 seconds in her back to sneak up into the Bonus Final.
- Teagan earned a best time by a half second in the back.
- Lexie will race the 100 Back in the Bonus Final tonight.
- Izzy dropped a second to place 3rd in tonight’s 100 Back final.
- Jordan will race as the 8th seed in the Championship Final of 100 Back.
- Cooper dropped nearly 3 seconds in his 100 Back!
- Joey took off 2.25 seconds in his 100 Back to move up into the Championship Final as the 6th seed.
- Jordana will race in her 6th final of the meet, ranked 12th in the 200 IM.
- Jordan dropped 2.41 in his 200 IM to earn another Championship final appearance.
- Akim”subtracted” 2.29 in his 200 IM.
- Joey dropped a second in his 200 IM to earn a spot in the 200 IM Consolation Final.

Day 2 Finals Recap

Lilla started off Finals by bouncing back in her 200 Free. After disappointing morning swim that landed her in the Consolation Final, she blasted off to lead from start to finish, earning a new lifetime best by nearly 2 seconds and the 2nd fastest time in the event overall.

Joey went off in his 200, dropping over 3 seconds from his best time in the morning to swim a 1:54 and move up from 16th to 12th.

Akim swam a best time by .32 to move up 2 spots to finish 19th.

Jordan added a second from his big drop in the morning to finish 4th in the Championship Final.

Jordana took off .36 to swim her first 1:11 in the 100 Breast.

Mackenzie went AUF and charged to an early lead as she dropped a second and a half to also earn her first 1:11 as she skipped 1:12 entirely.

Lexie added just over a second in her 100 Breast Championship Final.

Ethan added a second and a half from his morning 100 Breast but still managed to move up a spot into 6th.

Jordan added a half second in his 100 Breast final while managing to hold his 3rd overall place.

- Lilla qualified 11th overall in the 200 Free.
- Mackenzie dropped a second and a half in her 200.
- Jamie and Lily both dropped 3 seconds in their 200s as they raced on opposite ends of the same heat.
- Joey took off a half second to qualify for the last spot in the Consolation Final.
- Jordan slashed 5 seconds from his 200 Free to qualify 2nd overall.
- Akim swam a best time by a tenth to earn a place in the Bonus Final.
- Jordana dropped over a second in her 100 Breast to earn the 7th seed in the Championship final.
- Mackenzie took off over a half second to place top of the Consolation Final.
- Lexie dropped nearly a second and a half to move up into her first Championship final of the meet.
- Ethan cut off 5 seconds in his 100 Breast to qualify 7th for the Championship Final.
- Jordan took off 1.49 seconds in his 100 Breast to place 3rd in Finals.
- Lilla earned a spot in the Championship Final in the 100 Fly.
- Ava dropped 4 seconds in her 100 Fly to earn a spot in the Bonus Final. This is the first final of Ava’s swim career! Congratulations!!!
- Lily followed suit as she dropped a half second in her 100 Fly and also earned a spot in the Bonus Final. This is Lily’s first ever Final, and it comes in Texas! Congrats Lily!
- Joey took off a half second in his 100 Fly to earn a spot in the Consolation Final.
- Akim dropped 3/4 of second and was on Sectionals pace through the 75. He will swim the 100 Fly again tonight as the top seed of the Bonus Final.
- Cooper dropped a second in his 100 Fly. This is a huge milestone for Cooper as he continues to ale his comeback from knee surgery over the Summer.

Day 1 Finals Recap

Finals started with our 9/10 girls featuring in the 100 Free. They held their places from the morning as Izzy added .02 to finish 4th and Katarina dropped a half second to finish 5th.

Lilla’s first time wearing a tech suit did not disappoint. She blasted her 100 Free to take off 2 second to win the Championship Final. Her new best time was a sectional cut by over a second and she is now less than a second from Futures in that race!

In the next race Jordana dropped .11 in her 100 to finish 8th in the Consolation Final.

Mackenzie raced next and added a half second from her best time from the morning to finish 7th in the Bonus Final.

Declan brought the outside smoke 💨 as he nearly stole the Championship Final from the outside lane. He took off over 6 seconds from his best time set in the morning and led for 98 yards before just getting out touched at the finish as he finished 2nd.

Ethan dropped .09 from his morning swim to finish 3rd.

Joey took off .22 in his 100 to move up and finish 7th overall.

Akim went under 49 for the first time as he dropped a half second to finish 3rd in the Bonus Final with a 48.95.

Jordan had to come from behind to win his Final as he was joint 4th at the 50. He charged back to touch first while dropping .09 from his morning best time.

We next went 5/5 best times in the 200 Breast finals.

Lilla dropped 2 and a half from the morning to finish 4th. Jordana finished 6th and dropped almost 2 from the morning and Mackenzie placed 7th with a lifetime best by over a second.

- Lilla got us started off well by racing right on her best time in the 100 Free to qualify 3rd in the Championship Final.
- Jordana dropped a second to earn her first 56 and to qualify in tonight’s Consolation Final.
- Mackenzie took off a quarter second to move up and qualify for the Bonus Final.
- Ava dropped a half second, the start of some newly discovered freestyle skills.
- Lexie cut over a second in her 100 to swim her first 56.
- Teagan qualified 2nd alternate for Finals in her 100.
- Emilia dropped a second in her 100 Free.
- Izzy dropped over 3 seconds to qualify 4th for Finals.
- Katarina took off a magical 2.19 seconds to qualify 5th in the 100 Free.
- Jordan got the boys started off great by slashing 2 seconds his 100 to go a 46.4 and earn the top seed in Finals.
- Akim sliced off a tenth in his 100 to move up and earn a spot in the Bonus Final.
- Joey also sliced a tenth to earn the 8th seed in the Championship Final.
- Ethan took off a huge 6 seconds in his 100 to earn the 3rd seed.
- Declan dropped a second and a half in his 100 to qualify 5th overall.
- Lexie cut off a massive 7 seconds in the 200 Breast to qualify 10th overall (the 2nd seed in the Consolation Final).
- Lilla went off in her 200 Breast, dropping 4 to earn a new Sectionals bonus cut. Lilla is seeded 5th for finals tonight
- Jordana dropped a second to slot right behind Lilla as the 6th seed.
- Mackenzie finished the chain by qualifying 7th for Finals in the 200 Breast.
- Jordan dropped a second in his 200 Breast to qualify 6th in Finals.
- Izzy is ranked #2 in Finals for the 50 Fly!
