Happy World Breastfeeding Week!! 🤗
✨Lactation and feeding has always had a special place in my heart when starting as a nurse a long time ago. It now means even more to me having breastfed my own daughters. That’s why I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, to help as many families as I can reach. 👩🏻⚕️
✨Every single feeding journey is individualized and different from one another. When I started my own journey, I had to remind myself to practice what I preach and it definitely had its own challenges. 👶🏻
✨Feeding a child is SO hard. It tests your patience and definitely brings mixed emotions. There is self doubt, worry, joy, happiness, pain, determination, and much more! It is 💯 a full time job.
✨It is almost impossible to drown out outside opinions and yes it may be well meaning advice, but it is not always the best. As parents we need positivity and encouragement, not other people telling us what we are doing wrong.
✨No matter how much you breastfed your child, whether it was for one day or one year, you FED your child the best liquid gold ever and no one can ever take that away from you! YOU breast/chest fed!! This includes exclusive pumping and mixed feeding. 🍼It is an amazing accomplishment and you should be proud!
❤️To all the parents out there, you are doing an amazing job! 💪🏼Keep going, you got this, these days when the kiddos are small don’t last forever! ❤️

“Many find that their breastfeeding experience is not what they originally expected or planned for. But even if your journey takes an unexpected detour, you are still a breastfeeding parent. Every drop of breastmilk that your child gets is beneficial. Every moment at the breast that your child gets is beneficial. Breastfeeding is not all or nothing. Everyone has a different breastfeeding journey.”

✨We all have our own path. YOU ultimately decide what is best for YOUR child! Support is SO huge and a key to success. So is getting a solid education before hand and resources. If only we all had a pocket IBCLC with us every time we started a new breastfeeding journey with our little ones. We will keep trying to shout out from the rooftops, share and help as many families as we can reach! 🤗

🍼Milk supply … it is one of the biggest concerns a human producing and feeding milk to their child has.🍼
I definitely think our society has really stigmatized breastfeeding and the supply we are supposed to make for our child. Then, if we don’t make enough we are a horrible parent. 👶🏻
There are SO many factors that go into producing more of that liquid gold. If our hormones and body do not cooperate, so the supply dips. The stressors of life absolutely do not help either. But believe it or not, the majority of us ARE making enough!!
We need to stop putting pressure on the moms that don’t make enough milk, and quit making the parent that has an oversupply feel bad too!
We all are never perfect eaters. I confess sometimes I have too much of the occasional McDonald’s french fry… so we need to stop bullying into one way to feed our child or the other. In the end WE decide how we want to feed our child!
We also need to educate…human milk is SO friggin amazing. I don’t know how this stuff isn’t sold on more black markets. Let’s encourage parents and help support them on all of the highs and lows of feeding their child. ANY amount of human milk will benefit the baby for the rest of their life. It’s hard being a parent in general and it’s all about enjoying the little things, and not listening to the “Jonses.”
Thanks for listening to my rant 😂
