I got to hang out in the van this weekend!! We went up to Lake Folsom and while Dustin went for a bike ride, I read my book and took some cool photos of the van.
It was so great to be able to relax in the van after so many weeks of just working on it. We can’t wait for it to be done!

Who can guess how many pocket holes I drilled for both of those upper cabinets? (Head to our stories to guess!)
Two long banks of cabinets with four cubbies each are going to give us a lot of great storage. Cross your fingers they fit!!

We got some great progress done on the upper cabinets this weekend. We’ll have two of these cabinets spanning the entire driver’s side ceiling for so. much. storage!!

It’s amazing how much putting the walls and one piece of furniture made the van feel so much more like camper and less like a cargo van!
This was just a test fit. The galley will get painted white to match the walls. We wanted everything to match to make it feel as open as possible. But don’t worry—already planning pops of color for the comforter, bench cushions, and throw pillows!

Solar is up! ☀️⚡️💫
We have two Renogy solar panels giving us 350 watts of solar on the roof!
Those feed into an entirely Renogy power system which means everything gets along out of the box and trouble shooting is a breeze.
All of the lines are neatly tucked up under the solar panel and the port into the van is nicely hidden in the middle! Dustin did a great job making sure everything is neat!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬!! It’s feeling more and more like a camper and not the empty interior of a cargo van!
The wall panels have been painted and installed. The insets in the back panels give us a little extra legroom for the bed—it is 76 inches across!
The galley was in there for a dry fit. It looks great! So much storage, a nice deep sink, and plenty of counter space.
And the electrical is very nearly done! More details coming tomorrow, but we have two solar panels, two lithium batteries, and enough power to recharge our devices, and run the lights and the water pump.

We have new windows!!
While cutting them was terrifying, they add so much light to the interior! And make rear visibility while we’re driving so much better.
We bought our windows from Van Windows Direct, and they were fantastic to work with! The window install kit we got had the primer and sealant, so ordering our windows from them was a one stop shop.
We want to add two more windows—one on the driver’s side and one in the sliding door. Those will probably have sliders in them for extra ventilation!

We leak tested the van this weekend! Two windows, one fan, and the solar gland where the power cables come in from the solar panels all kept out water! 🎉🎉🎉
Super happy everything is sealed and ready to go! Also super happy to be done with the sikaflex for a minute. That stuff is nasty!
Thankful for some sunshine right now, but more rain is coming for the rest of this week. So it’s super great we’re all sealed up!

I have been excited about installing our insulation since we drove to Reno to pick it up! (Honestly, I was most excited about getting it all out and sitting in it like a nest 😜)
The Havelock wool was easy to install. We used twine wrapped through the factory holes in most places to hold it on. We went back and reinforced with painters tape on a few of the bigger sections that started moving before we got the walls in.
It was MESSIER than I expected. Wool all over our clothes and lots of floofs in the air. We will probably wear masks for our next install!

The van is looking nice and shiny, and our logo is popping in the background!

That feeling when you successfully cut a hole in your van. Two parts awesome, one part still pretty terrified!
