A day in the life at HTA! 💪🏻. 🎥
What do the chains do? ⛓
Chains are a form of what is called accommodating resistance. This means that the intensity of the resistance changes through different portions of the lift.
As the bar rises, more chain links come off the floor, increasing the weight on the bar. This increases the intensity in the generally stronger ranges of motion(the top portion of the lift), and decreases the weight in generally weaker ranges of motion(the bottom portion of the lift).
During max effort training, where the goal is high force output, chains help to increase strain even at the strongest points of the lift.
During dynamic effort training, where the goal is higher velocities, chains allow the lifter to accelerate with intent even deeper into the range of motion of the lift.
Chains are a fantastic tool for training, and with a better understanding of their purpose, they can become increasingly effective at targeting specific training goals.
