Floor Hockey in Sacramento

Alert - We have closed the Floor Hockey Group due to lack of available indoor spaces. We had several members attempt to acquire slots in multiple venues which all never materialized since the Pannell Center shifted their programs where we played.

We have donated our surplus (which we collected for insurance) of $636.00 to the Sacramento County Chargers along with all of our sticks, equipment and nets which will be used exclusively to fund and keep the Special Olympics Hockey Program alive.

Sacto Floor Hockey is still on hiatus (since our last game at the Pannell Center on March 9th, 2020) due to looking for an indoor spot that will allow us to play. We thought we had a place in May in the Pocket area but the Elks Lodge had their nights filled for pickle ball so we got passed over. We will keep looking and update this page and the group email if there are any updates.

I currently have all our sticks, goals and equipment safely in my garage since the Pannell Center changed their program plan and pushed us out in favor of youth sports once the restrictions started to lift post pandemic.

We also still have $636.00 that will likely need to be used for insurance if we are able to find a new location to play.

We have looked at many community centers and gyms and because it is hockey the management of these facilities are afraid of the risk involved.

If you know of an indoor place that we could possibly hold games please leave a message in the comments and we can follow up.

Outdoor Hockey in Rocklin will no longer take place due to interest/lack of participation. Hopefully COVID protocols will ease and will allow us to play again at the Pannell Center Monday nights. in the near future. Per the City of Sacramento - there is no timetable to resume playing. Any updates will be posted here as well as on email list.

Please note that this page will be checked bi-weekly for any messages left.

When - Saturday 10/16/21

Time - 8:00AM to 10AM

Where - Johnson-Springview Park - 5480 5th St, Rocklin, CA 95677 (Rink is behind Tennis Courts)

Why 8:00am? Because there is no way to reserve the rink as it is 'first come first serve' and there have been other groups that participate with other activities on that rink.

Masks are not required but suggested as we are still fighting the effects of Covid 19 - if you don't feel good please be considerate and stay home.

*if we get more than 6 people that show up we can have a game playing in one of the defensive zones using the side boards to place the nets.

Hey floor hockey hopefuls.

last week I emailed Steve Johnson, who's the director of the Pannell Center, about what we could expect about floor hockey returning with California rules being relaxed. I hadn't heard from him and was about to try a different route when he responded to me this afternoon. Here is what he said:

HI Dan,

I thought we would know something by now, and there is no word when we will actually open to the public. We put in a new MP floor, so that also may affect programs moving forward.

I will let you know when I hear something.

Hey floor hockey folks, with Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties all moving into the red tier we're going to return to meeting Saturdays at the outdoor hockey rink at Johnson Springview Park in Rocklin (it's been awhile so here's the address in case you've forgotten: 5480 5th St, 95677). This is an outdoor rink, but bring a mask.

The first meeting is planned for March 27 (not this coming Saturday, next Saturday) at 9 a.m. Hope to see you there.
