Introducing FP Sacramento’s newest practitioner, Doug Mower!

Doug is an HBS1 Certified FP Practitioner. In 2017 he began his journey into FP methodology after practicing various other rehabilitation programs to alleviate his chronic body pains.

When coming up short with these other programs he then found , and immediately began to resolve his aches and pains. This inspired him to further his learning and to begin his journey as a practitioner, where he then completed the Human Foundations course and most recently the Human Biomechanics Specialist Level 1 course.

Now his focus is to go full time as a practitioner to help out others get resolve their their chronic pains and movement dysfunctions.

Strength Training Without the Compression

Ever wonder how to build strength without all the joint damage and compression that come with traditional exercise?

What if I told you that lifting weights like bench presses, deadlifts, and squats actually wasn’t good for your body. And that those planes of motion don’t take account for actual proper movement patterns.

This is because our bodies move through multiple forces vectors, including both vertical and horizontal loads. Not only vertical loads like with traditional training.

The max sprint test

The cornerstone for understanding one’s own current movement ability and functionality. The max sprint determines where we are currently at with our physical capabilities and overall physical health.

Because most movements are based on gait cycle mechanics, this test gives us an idea where our dysfunctions lie. A few examples of what we examine include:

Is there an excessive hip hike?

Are the ankles collapsing?

Is there a knee Valgus?

Does the thoracic spine extend or is it Kyphotoic?

Which scapula wings out more prominently?

Does the pelvis rotate to both sides or just to one?

These are all things that can be identified in a max sprint test. From this we can then determine where to focus towards to get the body moving correctly.

CHRONIC LOWER BACK PAIN?

We all have pastimes we like to participate in. Whats yours?

Some like enjoy playing basketball every so often, going for a hike outdoors, or playing hide an go seek with their child. Now imagine not being able to do the things you like because of a chronic pain.
