This weather system has dumped a ton of snow and more is coming. I have openings for hot waxes and edge sharpening next week! While some resorts are closed along with highways, now is the time to get your gear out and prepped for better conditions next week.

Send me a message to schedule your ski or snowboard service today!

Gave these kids skis a hot wax to get them ready for the snow. Removed a little surface rust on the edges and made sure the edges were sharp and ready to make turns. Stoked for these skis to be enjoyed this season by their Grom.

Spent Friday and Saturday with my gromlets. My youngest got his season pass when we arrived, and you can see the stroke in his eyes! Of course I gave everyone’s skis and snowboards a fresh hot wax the night before we left so we were ready to enjoy the snow.

We had blue skies for most of Friday and got fresh snow on Saturday. It was a bit windy on Saturday but the kids had fun skiing in the morning while fresh snow fell pretty heavy. My oldest even took the reins with my youngest and got him working on his turns a bit. Then I went and got some solo snowboarding in after lunch, even making it up to the top of Grandview once the wind hold was lifted. It was still windy up there but the snow was mostly good.

A great first trip of the season for us. Lots of smiles. This mama just wants to see her kiddos having a good time, making memories and continuing to grow their confidence on the slopes. Looking forward to heading up again next weekend.

Also shoutout to who I met on the Grandview lift Friday. Check out his music on Spotify and follow him on IG. Definitely added his tunes to my riding playlist and also makes for good music for the drive home.

Even the little Groms’ snowboards need a hot wax! And a thirsty little snowboard it was!! This little Burton Chopper 80cm had a dirty base (before picture is after base cleaner) from rain in a dirty parking lot. It happens. Sometimes you’re busy tending to the needs of the littles and then the gear just gets tossed in the car once they’re settled. I’m just the mama ski and snowboard tech for the job. Did the clean up and a hot wax. Edges were sharp with a little bit of discoloring so I just took a scotchbrite pad to the edges but they don’t need sharpening. When they do need a sharpen the discoloration in the edges will be removed. For now, fully ready to shred!

Last night Eli brought me a new to him snowboard that he got for Christmas. It needed an edge sharpening and a hot wax but in otherwise great condition. His board was very thirsty for some wax as you can tell from the before photo.

Today I cleaned the base with citrus base cleaner before I sharpened the edges by hand, to remove some imperfections from previous use. Nothing crazy, just normal dings that are easy to get out but important to maintain. I used an all temp wax for the hot wax on the base and you can see the huge difference it made. I swear I heard the snowboard breathe and sigh as if to say, “ahh…That’s nice!” Last but not least I cleaned the top sheet with the citrus base cleaner to remove any wax that got on it from my hands during the scraping process and to remove as much of the gunk as possible left behind from the previous owner’s bindings.

I’m excited for Eli to pick up his new board and take it up to ride at Sierra-at-Tahoe this week. I’ll be up with my family too and I hope we run into each other so he can let me know how it’s riding for him.

A hot wax will last for 3-7 riding days on average but it really depends on the snow conditions and your riding style. If the base looks dry, it’s definitely time for a fresh hot wax.

Hi! I'm Camille Potter, your friendly ski and snowboard tech. I worked in the industry for over a decade as an outfitter and ski tech. I'm excited to open my own service shop for the 2025-2026 Winter season, and serve the Sacramento ski and snowboard community, so everyone can be ready to hit the slopes and have fun making turns in the snow.

I'm also a mother of two little Gromlettes who both love to ski and snowboard. If you see us on the mountain or hanging out at my Volkswagen Westfalia, please say hello and give us a wave.

My oldest Grom is almost as tall as me, and if you're at Sierra-at-Tahoe, you'll probably see her ripping around the mountain and through the parks in her Bluey onesie. She loves to trade stickers with people she meets on the lift so be sure to share a chair with her. She's been skiing since she was 3 and throws a snowboard on once in a while too. My youngest can be found with me on the Slider Magic Carpet and riding down Broadway after a trip up the Easy Rider chair, though I am hoping to get him up to the top of Grandview even if it takes us all day to get down the hill. He likes to ski and snowboard but will choose his snowboard most of the time.

Big sis is gracious enough to hang out and watch a movie with her little bro in the afternoons and let him get a nap, so this mama can get at least an hour of solo riding in. I am so looking forward to my little guy being able to ride down from the top with us. Will this be that season? We will see. He just turned 3 last week and this is his second season skiing and snowboarding with us at Sierra-at-Tahoe. So stoked to have gotten him on skins before he turned 2.

Sharing the mountain with my kids IS the dream. I hope you and your families will be enjoying this ski season together too.

The snow has arrived in Tahoe which means ski and snowboard season is officially here!

Are your family’s skis and snowboards waxed up and ready for the snow? This experienced ski tech mom (me) is offering basic services here in Sacramento so you can head up the hill, ready to enjoy some turns. All hot waxing, edge sharpening and minor base repair is done by hand.

Also offering ski binding adjustments if you got new boots, or there was any change in skier height, age, weight or skiing ability. This is important for proper release from skis to prevent injury. I’m happy to help you determine if you need this done for anyone in your family. I cannot offer ski binding mounts or remounts as I don’t have the jigs to do this in my home shop.

Services are performed in the Tahoe Park area for quick local work.
