One of the Niyamas in yoga philosophy, Santosha means contentment. It invites us to find peace and gratitude in the present moment, rather than constantly seeking happiness in what comes next.

As part of the Yamas and Niyamas, Santosha is a personal practice of acceptance, gratitude, and learning to be at peace with what is, while still honoring our desire to grow.

Lately, Santosha has been showing up in my life as a reminder to slow down and appreciate what I already have. The people I love, the life I’m building, the opportunities unfolding and even the little everyday moments that can so easily pass me by.

With gifting season upon us, I’m focusing on the idea that the greatest gifts aren’t always found in a shopping cart. Sometimes they’re presence, time, gratitude, and the ability to truly appreciate what is already here.

For the rest of this year, my intention is to practice Santosha more. To want less, appreciate what I already have, and remember that there is so much abundance in the present moment. 🫶🏻

May we find contentment in what is, while remaining open to what’s next.

Let’s talk about Kundalini yoga.

For some people, even the word *Kundalini* can feel intimidating.

Maybe you’ve heard stories about intense spiritual experiences, gurus, energy awakenings, chanting, or practices that seem foreign or inaccessible. Or maybe you know some of the history of how Kundalini yoga was brought into the mainstream in the U.S.—and that history has left you questioning whether this is a practice you want to participate in.

**Those questions are valid.**

Much of the Kundalini yoga taught in the United States traces back to Yogi Bhajan and the organizations and teachings he established. His approach created a very specific model of how Kundalini yoga should be practiced and taught, including a strong emphasis on conforming to his methods and teachings.

The Kundalini I teach is a practice of exploration, curiosity, and personal agency—not a belief system or hierarchy.

You will never be asked to surrender your authority to a guru, teacher, or particular ideology. I don't believe a teacher should position themselves as the ultimate authority on your body, your experience, or your spirituality.

Instead, my classes are trauma-informed, consent-based, woman-led, and grounded in nervous-system awareness. You are encouraged to questions, modify, pause, opt out, or completely make a practice your own. Because it is YOUR OWN.

You don't have to believe something just because a teacher says it.
You don't have to have a mystical experience.
You don't have to subscribe to a particular religion or worldview.
And you don't have to force your body into a practice that doesn't feel supportive.

Your discernment matters. Your voice matters. Your experience matters.

I also believe deeply in creating spaces where women and people whose voices have historically been dismissed, silenced, or marginalized are believed, respected, and heard.

For me, teaching Kundalini means taking what is meaningful and transformative about this practice while being willing to question the structures that have sometimes surrounded it.

Kundalini doesn't need to ask you to give your power away in order to help you find it.

That is the Kundalini I practice.
That is the Kundalini I teach.
And there is room for you here. ✨

If you've spent years making yourself smaller to be 'acceptable'-quieting your needs, dimming your presence, treating your depth like a flaw - I want you to know something: that's not who you are. That's your nervous system's protective response. And it can be rewired.

I work with a lot of mental health professionals, coaches, and people in recovery who carry this belief so deeply they don't even question it anymore. The shrinking feels normal. Safe. Like the truth.

But here's what trauma-informed Kundalini Yoga teaches: your body knows the difference between genuine danger and the old survival patterns your nervous system is still running. Through breathwork, somatic awareness, and permission-based movement, you can help your nervous system recognize that taking up space-feeling fully, needing rest, being exactly who you are - isn't a burden. It's your birthright.

You don't have to earn the right to exist as you are. You already have it. ✨

If this resonates, I'd love to see you on the mat.

✨ THE 9/9 PORTAL | SEPTEMBER 9, 2026 ✨

September 9 carries the energy of 9/9, a powerful invitation into completion, release, and renewal.

The number 9 holds the vibration of wisdom, endings, and higher purpose. It asks us to close cycles, shed old patterns, and release what no longer belongs in our energy.

And this year being 2026, that energy meets a Universal Year 1: the vibration of new beginnings, fresh chapters, and becoming.

After the most recent Blood Moon, the 9/9 portal offers a sacred moment to let go with love and create space for what is ready to emerge. 🪷

Think of it as a cosmic exhale before the next inhale.

This is a time to:
🌙 Release old stories and attachments
🌙 Honor how far you’ve come
🌙 Close cycles with grace
🌙 Realign with who you are becoming
🌙 Set intentions for the chapter ahead

You don’t have to force what comes next.
Release. Realign. Receive. 🫶🏻

Let what is leaving make space for what is meant to rise.

What are you ready to release so you can step more fully into what’s waiting for you? ✨

Have you ever felt tingling, heat, shaking, pressure, tears, laughter, or a sudden wave of emotion during yoga? 🌀✨

Sometimes, yoga can create sensations that feel almost otherworldly. And in Kundalini yoga, there are a few ways we might understand this experience.

The breathwork alone can create a powerful shift. Deep, rhythmic breathing changes oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the body and can influence the nervous system, circulation, and your overall state of awareness. That can leave you feeling light, energized, tingly, emotional, or even a little euphoric.

Then there’s the kundalini perspective: the belief that dormant energy rests at the base of the spine and, through breath, movement, meditation, and focused awareness, that energy can begin to awaken and move upward through the body. 🔥🐍

Some people describe this as a “kundalini high”: a heightened, expansive feeling of energy, connection, clarity, or emotion.

You might cry. You might laugh. You might feel heat or tingling. You might feel absolutely blissed out. And sometimes… you might simply feel different.

Whatever arises, there’s no need to force an explanation or make it mean something. Notice it. Breathe through it. Stay curious.

Your body has its own language, and yoga gives us an opportunity to listen. 🤍

Have you ever experienced a “kundalini high” or an unexpected sensation during yoga? Tell me about it below. You’re definitely not alone. 🌙✨
