Sarasota, FL – International lacrosse icon Casey Powell is making it his mission to share his love for the sport of lacrosse with the world and spread the joys of the sport to all corners of the globe. With the website launch for his new Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation (CPWLF www.worldlacrosse.org), Powell shares his vision for the future of lac
rosse. CPWLF is a 501(c)3 organization with a passion, responsibility and mission to share, support and inspire the sport of lacrosse both nationally and globally. The Foundation endeavors to inspire and unify communities worldwide to take up sticks as we push for the inclusion of lacrosse in the Summer Olympic Games. Founder Casey Powell has spent the past two decades immersed in his passion and the results have been historic. With the World Lacrosse Foundation, Powell expects nothing less.
“The opportunity to play lacrosse has changed my life,” says Powell. “Lacrosse has taken me all over the world and introduced to me to amazing diverse people who I’ve learned from, laughed with and been supported by. I call them good friends. I feel very lucky that at my age, life is brimming over with incredible lacrosse moments. I also feel the continuing responsibility to pass the game on to more people in hopes they too enjoy similar experiences.”
CPWLF is aimed at raising awareness and encouraging new participation in the sport of lacrosse. Grassroots programs such as their Student Sticks program, Ambassador Program and Lacrosse Clinics, to major fundraising events like the September 19th World Lacrosse Beach Festival. This 2-day event will be held at beautiful Siesta Key Beach on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Missions will take Powell and Foundation ambassadors around the globe with equal enthusiasm. Casey Powell’s World Lacrosse Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization with a passion, responsibility and mission to ignite, spread and share the sport of lacrosse both nationally and globally. Our efforts endeavor to inspire and unify communities worldwide around our sport as we push towards its inclusion in the Olympic Games. Casey Powell is an entrepreneur, endorser, player, coach and lacrosse ambassador. Since graduating from Syracuse University, Powell has spent his professional career traveling the world playing, teaching and helping spread the game of lacrosse. A four time NCAA All American and two-time National Player of the Year, Powell has played professionally for the past 18 years. He has played for three United States Men’s National Teams captaining the squad in 2006 and 2011. He was selected to the All Century Team, MLL All Decade Team and Upstate New York Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Casey is currently playing fin the MLL on the Florida Launch. He is a partner with lacrosse education leader LB3 Lacrosse which runs camps, clinics, clubs and tournaments nationally. He is the current head of lacrosse spring training at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. Come join Casey and his friends and make their mission yours.
