PICK-n-ROLL work and details
Always fun have these two in the gym getting better. This part of our session was working off the glass. And underrated skills in my opinion.
Are you doing drills or executing a move?
Watch how TJ was doing the drill at first and how watch TJ after the correction. The first part is what many players do with a trainer/coach, they go through the drill being explained. The second part is what players need to do to reach their next level. We hear Go Game Speed often, game speed without imagination to me is good conditioning.
Understanding why and how and work on it as if I’m in the game is where game result lies.
Youth players, I urge you to Stop focusing on Drills and learn how to execute.
My job as a trainer is to push pass comfort. 7+ years later and standard still the same, we punish the rim and challenge whoever wants it. He may disagree at first but he also recognizes that the goals is always to get the best out of him always.
If you train or have trained with us, been in our intro session, you’ve heard of our 3 Rules.
Rule 1:
Always Introduce yourself whenever there’s a someone new on the floor with you training. (That’s leadership, being aware of what’s going around you, break the ice for someone else, confidence, and more)
Rule 2:
NEVER EVER say the word Sorry in our gym.
(You’re him our gym to get better and make mistakes so why are you sorry? Break out from bad habits of saying and think you’ll be forgiven because you said sorry, Nah)
Rule 3:
NO NEGATIVE SELF-TALK.
(Whether players realize it or not it impact them in game but for us more importantly it’ll impact them in life)
One of our high schoolers slipped up this week and was trying to dodge his consequence lol, nope. I had to explain the science behind it because I do research before I preach it to our guys. As I was looking for the research to send him, this video I’ve been looking for popped up on my feed.
Here’s why Rule 3 exist at MM Basketball
