"Love spells take away someone’s free will!"

I saw a comment the other day saying they can’t stand love spells because it doesn't sit well to take away someone’s bodily autonomy and free will.

Honestly? It irks me so much because it shows a complete lack of foundational understanding when it comes to spellwork, energy, and how reality actually operates.

Let’s clear a few things up about the actual mechanics.

The energy required to force someone to love you is insane and self-defeating.

People talk about love spells like they’re a permanent, cinematic mind-control switch.

In reality? How often is a spell meant to force a toxic bond or chain someone to you actually successful long-term?

It’s slim to none.

Love is a thick, heavy energy.

To forcibly dominate another soul’s path, you have to constantly feed, anchor, and maintain that heavy frequency against their natural energetic baseline and personal spirit team.

Most people simply do not have the raw energetic output, discipline, or stamina to sustain that.

When you try to override Soul Sovereignty through brute-force domination, you aren't building love; you’re building a pressure cooker.

The spell usually fizzles out, or worse, sours into obsession, resentment, and an exhausting energetic leak that drains your vitality just to keep the delusion alive.

To forcibly dominate another soul's path, you have to constantly feed and maintain that heavy frequency against their natural energetic baseline, which will eventually drain you dry.

Love spells are WAY broader than just binding a person.

Reducing an entire category of magic down to controlling a lover shows a total lack of practical experience.

Love magic is foundational environmental work.

It’s about warmth, soft landings, conflict resolution, self-compassion, and harmony.

I’ll cast a love spell and light an infused candle when I know I’m going into a tough, heavy conversation with someone I care about; simply because we need more love, grace, and open-hearted patience to fill the space between us.

I’m not changing who they are; I’m changing the temperature of the room so we can actually hear each other.

The hypocrisy around Free Will and Soul Sovereignty is wild.

This is the part that gets me the most.

Well... fu***ng DUH it affects free will!

Every spell interferes with free will.

When you do a spell for a new job, are you not interfering with the free will of the hiring manager?

When you protect your home, are you not interfering with the free will of a predator?

Magic is about shifting and changing reality.

You aren't enslaving a soul; you are highlighting a path that wasn't visible before.

Cast a spell to get a job?

Guess what?

someone else goes without that paycheck so you can have it. You directly influenced the hiring manager’s perception and choice.

Cast a protection spell?

You’re neutralizing or blocking someone else’s raw intent and energetic trajectory.

Cast for abundance or housing?

You are shifting finite physical and energetic resources in a shared world.

Every time you step up to your altar, you are shifting the pieces on the board and altering the ripple effect of choices around you.

Picking out love spells as the ultimate spiritual sin while pretending your money or success spells operate in a vacuum is pure hypocrisy.

Magic is about manipulating reality and every single spell you cast influences the ripple effect of choices around you.

Soul Sovereignty doesn't mean existing in a bubble where your energy never touches anyone else.

We are constantly exerting subtle energetic pressure on each other just by breathing, talking, and existing in proximity.

Magic is simply the intentional direction of that energy.

If your ethics require you to pretend your magic touches no one else's path, you don't actually understand how interconnected energy works.

Soul Sovereignty doesn't mean living in an energetic bubble, because true magic is simply the intentional direction of energy in an interconnected world.

Stop neutering the craft to fit performative online discourse.

Understand the mechanics of energy before you preach about it.

It’s time for a personal post.

Let’s talk about recovery; in whatever form that takes for you and how it ebbs and flows. Most importantly, let's talk about why we need to stop shaming ourselves when we notice an old habit trying to make a comeback.

Recently, I’ve noticed my eating habits shifting back into a space that is slowly getting dangerous. My binge eating and restriction patterns have been rearing their heads again.

It didn't happen all at once. It crept in subtly:
• Skipping meals by choosing not to take a break at work.
• Barely eating at certain meals, overeating at others, and telling myself it was just because of my schedule or lack of time.

But the one that snuck up on me the absolute most?

I stopped finishing anything.

I realized I wasn't allowing myself to eat the last three bites of anything; even if my stomach was still growling and actively telling me I was hungry.

I didn't even fully catch it until my husband pointed out that I kept throwing food away, only to be searching for more an hour later.

That’s when it hit me: I had secretly convinced myself that I didn't deserve those last few bites. In my head, I had built this rule that if I didn't finish the whole thing, then I hadn't eaten too much.

It’s wild how smart and adaptable our brains are when trying to find a loophole to cope.

Recovery isn't a straight, unbroken line.

Noticing that an old pattern has snuck back in doesn't mean you failed, and it doesn't mean you erased your progress.

It just means you're human, your brain defaulted to an old mechanism, and now your awareness is stepping back in.

We don't need to shame ourselves when these things happen.

We just need to catch them, call them out in the light, and offer ourselves a little extra grace while we recalibrate.

Sending love to anyone else quietly navigating a setback this week.

You’re not starting over; you’re just continuing the work.

Let’s talk about a topic that keeps popping up in comment sections and spiritual discussions: the widespread belief in forced soul bindings, inescapable soul contracts, and generational bloodline curses.

There seems to be a huge trend in modern spiritual spaces where people treat the human soul like a helpless piece of paper that anyone with a candle, a bit of dramatic flair, and an attitude can write all over.

We need to step back, strip away the dramatic Hollywood aesthetics, and actually look at the underlying energy mechanics of how souls and magic operate in the real world.

When you break it down step-by-step and strip out the fear-mongering, the claim that someone can unilaterally capture, override, or permanently bind your soul without your explicit consent falls completely flat.

To understand why forced bindings are mechanically impossible, we have to look at how consent functions across virtually every major tradition, system, and pantheon.

The idea that a living human practitioner possesses enough raw personal energy to steamroll another spirit’s innate protection and rewrite its core destiny ignores the basic physics of energetic balance.

Even the most powerful forces in existence don't operate that way.

Take a look at organized world religions like Christianity, where the entire framework of spiritual warfare hinges on free will and explicit surrender.

Demonic forces and religious institutions alike have to persuade, trick, tempt, or convince you to give your soul away because they simply cannot reach into your chest and take it.

The exact same rule applies when working with deities in polytheistic and pagan paths, where ancient, massive forces of divine energy require deliberate dedication and ongoing mutual permission to link with you.

If a literal deity has to obtain your consent to link with or claim your soul, a living human being certainly does not possess enough raw energy to override your sovereign divine core.

Another massive flaw in the soul binding narrative is the assumption that magic acts as a static, immortal superglue that persists indefinitely without an active engine running it.

Energy requires a continuous power source and a stable anchor to remain active.

When a practitioner dies, their active, conscious energy loop collapses, and unless a construct is actively fed or anchored to a physical or self-sustaining object, the spell naturally degrades and dissipates over time.

This becomes even clearer during the death transition when a spirit leaves a physical vessel, shedding the dense ego baggage of a single lifetime to reintegrate with its higher state.

An external binding attached to one life’s energetic body cannot automatically force itself onto the newly wiped slate of a reincarnated soul matrix without an active, mutually sustained connection.

This brings us to the obvious paradox between reincarnation and ancestor work, because if a soul has fully reincarnated into a new body and a new life path, that specific localized consciousness has moved forward and is no longer sitting in the ether available to hold energetic baggage or run ancestral curses.

No, Karen, someone from seven generations ago did not lay a dark bloodline curse on your family that is preventing you from finding love or keeping a job.

For those of us who believe in reincarnation and know we have shared multiple lifetimes with specific partners, the explanation isn't some ancient, binding oath or magical trap.

The romanticized idea that you are tied to someone because of a rigid soul contract actually degrades the true beauty of deep spiritual connections.

Who actually wants a partner who is stuck with them because of an inescapable spell cast centuries ago?

That isn't love, and it isn't romantic; that’s an energetic prison.

True, enduring connections across lifetimes don't happen because someone trapped you in a contract, but rather through raw alignment, resonance, and genuine mutual love.

A true bond across lifetimes is sustained by two free, sovereign entities continually choosing each other out of sheer will, not because of a rigid spell or ancient contract.

At the end of the day, standing fully in your own power means refusing to hand your agency over to fear-based narratives, because you—and only you—remain the ultimate sovereign authority over your own spirit in this life and every single lifetime to come.

I dive into modern neo-paganism and contemporary spirituality alike.

I don't write off modern developments out of snobbery.

Nor do I blindly romanticize the past just because it's old.

I take it all.

I tear it apart.

I look at the underlying mechanics.

Where others get trapped in elitism, dogma, or gatekeeping, I do the actual heavy lifting.

I do the work.

I run the research,

I test the energy.

I strip away the filler to find the golden threads running through history, knowledge, and the multiverse.

My crafts, my answers, and my opinions are forged through relentless study, cross-referencing, and sharp personal discernment.

They are not surface-level skimming or regurgitating what someone else told me to think.

So if my conclusions don't fit into your neat little framework, don't mistake my independence for a lack of education.

I didn't arrive at my perspective by following a paved road.

I built it from the ground up by pulling truth out of every shadow, every light, and every path available.

My mind is free.

My research is thorough.

And I answer to no one's doctrine but my own.

Let’s talk about Mabon and clear up a massive misconception.

If you’ve spent any time in Pagan, Wiccan, or nature-based spiritual spaces, you’ve probably heard Mabon described as an ancient Celtic harvest festival.

Here’s the plot twist: Mabon and the Wheel of the Year it sits on is actually a very modern creation and not ancient at all.

If you traveled back to ancient Ireland, Wales, or Scotland and asked someone about Mabon at the autumn equinox, they’d have no idea what you were talking about.

So where did it actually come from?

Let’s break down the history:

1. The Name Is from 1974
The name Mabon was assigned to the Autumn Equinox in 1974 by Wiccan author Aidan Kelly.

Early modern Pagans wanted distinct, traditional-sounding names for the minor Sabbats (solstices and equinoxes) to match the four ancient Celtic fire festivals (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, and Lughnasadh).

Kelly chose Mabon after Mabon ap Modron (Son of the Divine Mother), a figure from medieval Welsh myth whose story involves being trapped and rescued; a parallel to the descent of light into dark. But historically, the Celts never linked his story to the equinox!

2. The Wheel of the Year Is a 20th-Century Mashup
Ancient cultures didn't use an eight-part calendar.

The Celts focused on the four cross-quarter days (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh).

Norse and Germanic traditions focused more heavily on solstices and equinoxes.

In the mid-20th century, pioneers of modern Wicca combined these two distinct traditions into one single, cohesive 8-spoke calendar.

3. So Where Do the Traditions Come From?
While the structure is modern, the practices modern Pagans use to celebrate Mabon pull from real historical folk customs across Europe:

Harvest Home & Corn Dollies: In medieval England, the final sheaf of grain cut from the field was treated with reverence, often woven into a corn dolly to hold the spirit of the harvest through winter.

Michaelmas (Sept 29): The Christianization of European harvest rites, marked by community feasts, settling debts, and eating seasonal produce.

The Descent Motif: The theme of light yielding to darkness draws heavily on the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone.

So here is the takeaway;

Acknowledging that Mabon is modern doesn't make it any less meaningful!

It simply proves that nature-based spirituality is living, evolving, and adaptable.

Modern Pagans took fragmented historical customs, folk traditions, and seasonal observation and wove them into a beautiful, relevant way to reflect on balance, gratitude, and the changing earth.
