The 2026 Viking Shoot came to its soggy, but action packed conclusion on Sunday afternoon.

Congratulations to Viking Chieftain Derek Fischer. Down 2 targets with 100 doubles yet to shoot, he stepped out onto the line with his squad, which included the current leader, Scott Arvig. Shooting in the rain, Fischer edged Arvig by 3 targets, and claimed sole title and the sword, with a weekend total of 564 / 600.

The high combined handicap score for the weekend was a tie between Jaeden Eiden & Scott Arvig, who both broke a 186 / 200. Arvig conceded the title to Eiden without shoot-off, and the young man went home with both the axe and a full yard punch for his very impressive score of 97 from Saturday, which was the highest of the entire weekend. Well done Jaeden.

Congratulations to our champions, great shooting. To see all the score from the weekend, visit sosclays.com

THANKS to all who shot with us this weekend, it was a lot of fun.

The 2026 sword and axe are in and up for grabs at this weekend’s Viking Shoot.

To be eligible for the sword and axe, you must shoot both days. The high overall claims the sword, while the high combined handicap winner takes the axe.

It’s sure to be a real battle, we’ll see you then.

Participation and Eligibility

Scholarships may be awarded by Youth Heritage Outdoors (YHO) for a variety of reasons, but the primary way to earn a scholarship is to finish as one of the top placing teams in The Legacy tournament each year. When a scholarship is awarded to a single student, then that student is the sole recipient of the funds. When a scholarship is awarded to a team of two (or more) students, then the funds are split. For example, a $5,000 scholarship awarded to a team of two is designated as $2,500 per student. Funds cannot be granted or transferred to anyone else.

Scholarship funds will be reserved for a period of two years after the student’s graduation. If funds are unclaimed by that time, then YHO will place the money back into the general scholarship fund to be used for future events. Scholarships are valid for one school/program year and are not renewable. Scholarships are applicable for in-state or out-of-state schools and programs.

Restrictions for Usage of Funds

Scholarships may be used for any of the following post-secondary learning experiences.

4 year degree
2 year degree or trade
Community college
Lineman school
Police, sheriff, state patrol, first responder, or fire and rescue schools

The bad news is Santa Clause won't be coming to town for about 8 more months. But the good news is we went out and found the next best thing. 34 time All American trap shooting legend Nora Ross will be bringing her incredible wealth of knowledge and no-nonsense teaching style to Del-Tone on July 10th, 11th, & 12th. She will be holding 2 separate classes during that time.

On July 10th, Nora will be teaching a 1 day class which focuses exclusively on trap singles. This is a great class for high school shooters, league shooters, or ATA shooters who would like to raise their singles scores. The cost for the 1 day class is $350 and includes lunch.

On July 11th & 12th she will be holding a 2 day class which runs the gamut from singles, to doubles, to handicap. This is an intensive, in-depth class for competitive shooters that want to improve all aspects of their game. The cost for the 2 day class is $450 and includes lunch both days.

The classes are limited in size to 10 students each and will both fill to capacity, so do not delay in reserving your spot. Classes will be filled on a first come basis. To get registered call or text Scott @ (320) 429-0368 or send an email to [email protected].

The trap and s***t ranges will not be open to the general public on Saturday, May 2nd due to the expected turn out for the ANVIL shoot. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Attention ATA Shooters. Del-Tone Shooting Range is now running shoots with SOS Clays. For those of you with the SOS app, pre-squadding for the George Victor Memorial Shoot is now open. In the future, pre-squadding will be available well in advance of the shoot.

To see live scores as they are posted from anywhere, visit www.sosclays.com You do not need the app just to view scores.

Also, we would like to mention that there will be a combined lady 1 & lady 2 category for the singles event on Sunday at the George Victor Memorial Shoot, assuming there are at least 3 entries. The program did not reflect this and it was an error.

This Sunday, May 3rd, Del-Tone will be kicking off our summer season of ATA shoots with the George Victor Memorial. Registration begins at 9:00am with Shooting at 10:00am.

We'd be negligent if we didn't point out that the progressive handicap jackpots are in play, and have climbed their way above the $1,000 mark. Play the option and break a 50 straight for your chance to win 1/2 the pot.

See the full program for more detail. We hope to see you then for a fun day of shooting.
