There is something I have been thinking about when it comes to prayer. When I pray, I try to remember to pray for forgiveness first. Why? Because I need it. You need it. We all need it. There are no saints among us. We are human. We make mistakes, we lose our patience, we make bad decisions, we say things we wish we could take back, and sometimes we simply fail to be the person we know we should be.

But I also think we sometimes approach prayer asking God to give us strength, wisdom, patience, courage, or the ability to endure what is in front of us. Maybe we should spend a little more time thanking Him for what He has already given us.

God has already blessed each of us with tools we can use. He has given us strength. He has given us the ability to learn, to think, to adapt, to endure, to love, to forgive, to stand back up, and to choose what is right even when doing the right thing is difficult.

We don't always need another tool. Sometimes we simply need to trust the One who gave us the tools in the first place. Trust that He is with you. Trust that He is protecting you. Trust that even when you cannot see the entire path, you can still take the next right step.

Strive every day to be better than you were yesterday. Do the right thing. Help someone when you can. Own your mistakes. Ask forgiveness when you are wrong. Give forgiveness when you can and when you fall, because you will...NEVER QUIT. Get back up. Wipe the dirt off. Look toward Him. Take a breath, and try again.

We are not promised a life without struggle. We are given the opportunity to become stronger, wiser, more patient, and better through the struggles we face.

So today, don't just ask God for what you think you need. Thank Him for what He has already given you.Then trust Him enough to use it. Keep moving forward. Keep becoming better and never forget: you may fall, you may fail, but you never have to quit.
