🥋 40 Years Ago Today — August 26, 1986
Forty years ago, on August 26, 1986, I earned my Black Belt in Taekwondo. Looking back, I realize what a privilege it has been to not only practice this incredible art, but to teach it and pass it on to others.
Teaching has always been my passion. Many years ago, all that mattered to me was being able to make a positive difference in the lives of my students. That goal has never changed.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach at Lawler’s, De Lucca’s, and Dancel's Academies. Then, 14 years ago, I opened my own part-time Academy in St. George, Utah.
I started from scratch, in a place where nobody knew me. Since then, I’ve had the honor of promoting three 2nd Degree Black Belts and forty First Degree Black Belts. Not bad for a part-time academy! 😊
But honestly, the belts and numbers are only part of the story. The greatest reward has always been seeing students grow—not just as martial artists, but as people.
And at any rate… I don’t plan on stopping! 🥋
If you were ever a student I taught over the years, please come by the academy today, August 26th, or leave a comment and just say Hi! I would absolutely love to see you and hear from you.
Thank you to all the students and families who have been part of this journey. I’m incredibly grateful for every one of you.
40 years down… and I’m still going! 🥋❤️
