I think one of the hardest battles of being a Christian is knowing exactly what God says about us, yet still struggling to believe it applies to us personally.

We can tell a friend she’s loved, chosen and forgiven, and mean every word. But when it comes to ourselves, old memories somehow get the loudest voice.

I know mine do.

They show up while I’m hanging washing, driving the car or trying to sleep. Suddenly, something from years ago feels fresh again.

The enemy doesn’t always need a new lie. Sometimes he just keeps replaying an old one.

We’ve spent years rehearsing the hurt,the rejection and the things we started believing about ourselves because of what happened.

Then God says something completely different.

You’re loved. You’re His. You’re forgiven. You’re chosen.

I hope you hear this today:

The enemy keeps reminding you what happened because that’s all he has.

Jesus keeps reminding you who you are because that’s where freedom begins.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”-1 John 3:1
