MIHL players & captains —

This is an adult hockey league, and with that comes a responsibility for how we handle ourselves.

We have younger players, veteran players, new teams, longtime teams, and a wide range of personalities sharing the same rink. That mix is part of what makes this league fun — but it also means both sides need to read the room.

Younger players: bring the energy. Be loud. Celebrate. Have fun. But don’t shove it in someone else’s face, don’t talk trash directly at opposing players or benches, and don’t mistake fun for disrespect.

Adults and veteran players: you are adults. Act accordingly. If a younger team is loud or excited, don’t immediately take it personally or escalate it. The “get off my lawn” mentality needs to soften. Lead instead of reacting.

The league I want to build is one where players compete hard, but still respect and encourage each other.

Make a great play? Even the other team can acknowledge it.

Knock someone down? Help them up.

Something happens by accident? Apologize in the moment before it turns into something bigger.

That kind of culture does not happen by accident. We all shape it.

The standard is simple:

Compete hard.
Have fun.
Respect the game.
Respect the officials.
Respect the facility.
Respect the fact that everyone else paid to be here too.

We are not taking the fun out of MIHL — but we are not letting the league turn into constant chirping, taunting, retaliation, and avoidable drama either.

If that culture is not for you, another league may be a better fit.

First edition of the 2026 MIHL Power Rankings + Strength of Schedule.

This is through Week 5. 👀

The standings are still the standings — but this gives us a deeper look at how each division is shaping up.

Power Rankings factor in current results, points, adjusted goal differential, completed strength of schedule, recent form, and historical/context data.

Strength of Schedule shows who has had the toughest path so far. Higher SOS = tougher opponents already played.

So if a team is high in the standings but lower in Power Rankings, it might mean they still have more to prove. If a team is lower in the standings but has a high SOS, they may be better than their record looks.

Translation: we made the numbers just complicated enough to make everyone mad.
