I recently learned that Jerry Lang passed away prior to a dive at Lake Wazee. He was truly a legend in the Minnesota diving community. It couldn’t be any more poetic that his passing was during a dive related activity.

When I certified at SCUBA Adventures in Roseville back in 1991, Jerry was present in the diving community.

Jerry was eccentric, loved vintage dive gear, loved diving and was always supportive of new divers.

Upon starting Air Down There SCUBA and developing a social media platform Jerry was always quick with his comments - all positive. He encouraged me and every diver he came across to get in the water to see something new, learn something or if everything went well to just enjoy the experience of blowing bubbles and sharing space with the fish.

In this day and age, a person like him will not be easily replicated. He had a passion for being underwater, was an ever present person at Square Lake and I, for one took it for granted that he would always be there, hanging out, available for a quick consult on how to fix something or simply a quick story about dives gone by.

Jerry Lang, you were one of a kind and you will be missed.
