How do I access the Fitness Room? Yes!

All students and employees must complete a Registration form and sign a Waiver & Release form at the beginning of every semester in order to access the Fitness Room. When we receive your signed form, we'll provide you with a validation card that you will give to staff at the Student Center service desk. The staff person will provide you with a keycard to gain access to the Fitness Room (you may al

so leave your Metro State ID in lieu of the validation card). Your validation card or ID will be returned to you when you return the key card. What is the membership fee? There is no cost for currently enrolled students. Employees are able to utilize the facilities on a free trial basis between February 23 and March 31. Effective, April 1, the special introductory rate for employees is $50 for the 2016 calendar year (thru December 31, 2016). Payments may be made with cash, check, or money order only (payroll deduction is not available at this time). Payments are non-refundable. What are the Fitness Room hours of operation? The Fitness Room will be accessible whenever the Student Center is open, but will close 30 minutes before the Student Center closes. On February 23, the Fitness Center will be open from 12:00PM – 10:30PM. The schedule thereafter is as follows:
• Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 10:30pm
• Saturday: 8:00am – 7:30pm
• Sunday: 12:00pm – 10:30pm
NOTE: Hours of operation are subject to change during spring and winter breaks, and during the summer semester. Does the Fitness Room have lockers and showers? The Fitness Room has two private, gender neutral, wheelchair accessible bathrooms equipped with a shower, sink, and toilet. There are also 20 lockers which can be rented at no charge during the time you’re utilizing the Fitness Room. When you check in at the Student Center service desk you will receive a padlock and key along with the keycard, and you will return them when you checkout. What equipment is the Fitness Room? To date, the Fitness Room is equipped with top-of-the line strength training equipment and useful fitness accessories, including: 1 Roman chair; 1 Dual-action Smith machine; 1 Hoist Trainer; 3 Freemotion machines (2 lower body, 1 upper body); 15 Dumbbell sets ranging from 2.5lbs to 70lbs; 4 Kettlebells (5lb, 10lb, 15lb, 25 lb); 5 Resistance bands; 3 Stability balls; 2 Stretching mats; 2 Foam rollers

The following cardio equipment will be arriving very soon: 3 treadmills; 2 elliptical machines; 1 elliptical-climber combo machine; 1 water rower; 1 recumbent bike; and 1 spin bike. What if I don’t know how to use the equipment? Most of the strength training machines and many of the accessories have picture tutorials for your reference. The cardio equipment will have screen prompts or a “Quick Start” feature to assist you. If you still need assistance, feel free to ask Student Life staff for a demonstration. May I bring a non-Metro guest with me when I workout? At this time, only currently enrolled Metro State students and Metro State employees are allowed in the Fitness Room. We will revisit this policy when we have had ample time to assess usage of the facilities.

We have re-opened the Fitness Room on the St. Paul Campus. To increase safety, we have removed three pieces of equipment and blocked off a few others as well as limiting capacity to no more than 6 at a time.

On the cardio side, users can still access a treadmill, the all-in-one machine, an elliptical and the spin bike.

On the strength side we still have the dumb bells/kettle bells, the universal machine, the smith machine and the leg step machine.

Be sure to wipe down equipment with our wipes both before and after your workout!

$10 Trip to Wisconsin Dells Waterpark!!!

The University Activities Board (UAB) is sponsoring a one-day, students-only trip to Wisconsin Dells for a fun-filled day at Noah’s Ark Waterpark! The trip is Wednesday, August 9th and requires a $10 fee due in advance. The fee covers park admission, bus transportation, and light snacks and beverages for the bus ride.

This trip is exclusively for Metro State students enrolled in Summer and/or Fall semester classes. Only 50 spaces are available, so reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis until all spots have been claimed. Due to space limitations, unaffiliated guests and children cannot permitted.

Interested students must request a reservation via OrgSync at the link below. Those whose reservations are approved will be notified via OrgSync, and all students must come to campus to pay the $10 fee at a scheduled time, by Monday, August 7th at 6:00pm. Students who do not pay by the deadline may risk losing their reservation to someone on the waitlist. Payment can be made with cash, check, or money order. Credit card payments are not accepted. Please visit an ATM prior to arriving to pay for your ticket.

NOTE: The parking ramp will remain open and guarded until 1:00am so students may leave their cars on campus.
