I LOVE it when I get a chance to teach my students some basic anatomy as it relates to their practice. I find it really empowers them and gives them so much specificity with their form and deepens their understanding of movement!
We don’t have time to dive deep in a regular class, but I do believe it is the missing piece that a lot of students need to get so much more benefit out of each movement.
De-mystifying BASIC anatomy and biomechanics helps you understand cues and embody movement at a deeper level. All it takes is a basic understanding of bones, joints, muscles, movement terms - a few SIMPLE things that your favorite teacher probably learned on day one of their teacher training!
That’s why I’ve developed this new workshop:
Embodied Pilates Anatomy
With Core Pilates Owner, Heather Slater
Saturday 6/27, 12 - 2 PM
$79 - members use your discount code for 15% off!
In this afternoon workshop, you will learn:
-The basic anatomy of the spine, shoulders, and hips, and how these structures function in familiar Pilates exercises
-The meaning of key movement terms (like, for example, flexion and extension) and how they apply to your movement practice and familiar exercises
-What your CORE actually is (it's not just your abs!) and how you can activate it most effectively
The workshop will be a mix of lecture and movement, so you’ll get a chance to embody different concepts as we talk about them.
I can’t wait to help you uplevel your Pilates practice!

It’s not your fault you can’t stay consistent at the gym!
We get it - we don’t need to tell you that you’d feel better if you did some more regular strength-building exercise. You already know.
You might even know what kind of exercises would help, especially if you've been through PT for an injury or chronic issue!
But without any kind of structure, it’s TOO HARD to hold yourself accountable to a regular movement practice.
Don’t be hard on yourself - that’s just human nature, and we hear the EXACT same story from so many of our students when they first get started.
That’s why they make SO much progress when they start with the Intro to Pilates 6-Week Series.
Here’s how it works:
You commit to showing up at the same time six weeks in a row - and our upcoming Intro Series meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm, June 3 - July 8.
Your instructor will show you how to use the machines and help you get set up. Then, she’ll take the group through a series of beginner-friendly movement practices designed to teach you the fundamentals of Pilates.
Over the course of six weeks, you’ll start to build strength and mobility, and you’ll feel more connected to your core.
When you finish, you’ll be ready to join a regular All Levels class at Core Pilates - and we’ll help you set yourself up to STAY consistent with your weekly Pilates practice!
No more wandering aimlessly around the gym, and no more putting your exercise practice last.
You’ve got this! Join us starting next Wednesday - sign up here: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=32601&stype=-8&sView=day&sLoc=0&sTrn=100000081&date=06/03/26
