John Ruddy originally ripped up his left rotator trying to take down Jackson Gaulke 17 years ago. Realizing he's not getting any younger and wants to be on the bump for the Grouper opener in May, Rudds was surgically repaired last week and is convalescing comfortably at home alongside Nurse Marilyn Ratchet. Let's all wish Rudds a speedy recovery...

Hey, Grouper Nation! Please see the note below from fellow Grouper and great friend John Ruddy, please support if you can!
Father Time here, with a message about someone near and dear to me, a kid who simply has very little time.
As some of you may know, my 7-year-old grandson Townes has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a degenerative muscle disease that slowly robs children—mostly boys—of their muscle function, until eventually they’re confined to wheelchairs and have trouble performing simple tasks. Townes’ chronic disease affects him and his family in all aspects of life: socially, cognitively, emotionally, physically, and educationally.
It’s terminal…but it ain’t over ‘til it’s over.
He got his first wheelchair recently. And when Make-A-Wish treated him to Disney World, he exclaimed he “was the luckiest kid alive!”
Still, his time is ticking.
Townes will never play baseball; he doesn’t have time for it, literally. He’s an artist, builder, fix-it guy, racer, musician, movie critic, popcorn connoisseur, friend, brother, cousin and all-round funny dude—funnier than his grandpa, can you believe that? He made it through his first in-person school year and is now in second grade.
So here’s my pitch: Would you be willing to help Townes and others like him by supporting my daughter Nikki Witt’s fundraising efforts with a donation to the Race to End Duchenne campaign? Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of many. It’s easy to support this great cause —simply click on the link to the Together 4 Townes page below and follow the easy DONATE process. (You can skip the JOIN TEAM button.)

If you’d prefer, you can send your tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below. Please indicate on the check or with a note that the donation is in support of Townes Witt or Nikki Witt.

Any amount, great or small, helps in the fight to end Duchenne. And thanks to you, Townes and others like him may get a little extra time.
Thank you!
