Fencers and families—the Remenyik tournament in Chicago is always a big event in the regional competition season, and this year it will drive a couple of changes in our schedule this week as coaches prepare and travel. On Tuesday, 10/8, will have open bouting but no structured class at 6:30pm. Feel free to come and fence, but there will not be drills. On Saturday, 10/12, THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES. There are no beginner or intermediate classes scheduled, and the 11:30-1:30 advanced class will be canceled. Thank you.

Exactly one year ago, Twin Cities Fencing Club officially began practicing in our current space at Element Gym. It’s been a year of adjustment and building as we taped out new strips, learned how to efficiently set up for bouting, re-established our schedule, and got back to a familiar rhythm of training and teaching. And the changes aren’t over yet! We’re in the process of setting up our new office space at Element, where we’ll have an armory, some equipment storage, and a place for video review and classroom/group discussion when needed.
In the year ahead, we’ll continue to learn and grow as a not-for-profit. Our focus, as always, is to be a place where members can fence and work towards their goals in a supportive community, and where we can provide classes and instruction to people who want to learn and grow in the sport. If you participate in Give to the Max Day, please consider donating to the club using this QR code to help us with our priorities for the year ahead:
· Maintaining our training schedule and support local and regional competition
· Supporting our coaching staff and develop additional coaches so that we can increase class options, expand individual instruction, and provide tournament coaching
· Improving our training and office space while developing a long-range facility plan to support our club’s goals
· Continuing to develop our communications and administration technology and processes for ease of use
TCFC will be closed July 1-6 for Nationals and the Independence Day holiday. We will reopen Saturday, July 8. Thank you!
Fencers—if you are eligible to vote in US Fencing elections and have not yet done so, please vote in the board election. The board sets policy for the sport, and your vote is your voice in that process. Consider the candidates and vote for those you think are best. We’d encourage you to consider Donald Alperstein’s candidacy. Donald is a strong advocate for fencing who has a lot of valuable experience governing the sport and he has the best interests of athletes and clubs at heart. The election closes June 5th. Thank you.
TCFC will be closed on Saturday, May 27 and Monday, May 29 for the Memorial Day holiday. Enjoy the long weekend! Thank you.

It’s taken a while, but we have a replacement for our discontinued team warm-up jackets! In addition, our new option has club t-shirts and sweatshirts, and even over-the-knee purple socks! Orders can be placed individually, no waiting for a group sign-up. The club benefits from every purchase—you can show your TCFC colors and support the club 😀 Check it out!

As we all plow out, we recognize that some areas of the metro have passable road conditions while others are still challenging. As always, we encourage everyone to consider your own circumstances and make a safe decision about driving to (and home from!) practice. This evening, there will not be a structured foil/epee class, but Sasha will be in the gym giving lessons and facilitating bouting. We will resume our typical schedule on Saturday…weather predictions are for sun, so fingers crossed!
Practice is cancelled again today, 1/4, due to the ongoing winter weather advisory. Stay safe and warm at home, everyone!
