Athlete Spotlight:
Jameson Moan - FSU Commit - Class of 2027

I started working with Jameson as an 8th grader with solid tools and a talented player but slightly undersized and his physicality and athleticism weren’t at the level necessary for that foundation of skill to truly develop to the potential he has. He’d worked himself up enough to be a good player but the physical capacity and efficiency required for to become the next level he is now had not yet been built.

Over the last few years, the focus has been on developing him as a complete athlete, not rushing results or chasing short-term gains. The priority was adding quality mass, improving force production, refining movement efficiency and creating cleaner movement patterns, and building the arm strength and capacity needed to be a weapon behind the plate.

The results reflect that in the raw numbers and in the film:

• Bodyweight: 140 → 190
• Exit Velo: 82 → 102
• Pop Time: 2.0–2.1 → 1.76
• Catcher Velo: 72 → 84
• Pulldown Velo: 86 → 96
• 60 yd: 7.8 → 7.0
• Vertical Jump: 20” → 31”

This level of development didn’t happen in one offseason. It came from years of full buy-in, daily intent, and a willingness to do the work consistently when no one was watching. By committing early and taking ownership of his development, he’s built a physical foundation that continues to separate heading into his junior spring, with significant upside still ahead.

Jameson committed to Florida State this fall on a full ride offer and that’s just the beginning. Bright, bright future for my guy, can’t wait to see what’s next. Big time 2026 spring season incoming

I’ve always loved pairing pullover variations with overhead med-ball throws and slams. Here’s an example of how I progress that simple potentiation concept into a more advanced approach to translate foundational strength into live-action force production with my guy

Jase starts with a ballistic incline pullover that demands rapid absorption and redirection of heavy eccentric tension through thoracic extension. Efficient sequencing through the upper chain is required to remain connected and fluid to create true elastic power through a violent, whip-like motion.

We move into a kneeling overhead med-ball throw next, emphasizing launching the ball as far as possible through the air rather than a pulldown type pattern. This creates a heavy focus to minimize common compensatory patterns to generate a consistent, clean elastic transfer into a natural, powerful release.

This dynamic pairing builds the same sequencing pattern needed in high-level throwing athletes. Tension generated at the base channels through the upper chain into violent extension force as the scap sets into upward rotation and posterior tilt.

True performance comes from the capacity to rapidly produce and control that raw power consistently with the intent and tempo the game demands.

Finnley Kadjevich, a junior at Calvary Christian, came into the summer as a powerful and mobile athlete. My focus in her training was to refine how effectively she could harness that power and generate it more reliably and fluidly.

Her pre-summer movement screen showed me exactly where efficiency in her movement patterns needed to improve. I built her program around balance to improve force production capabilities, core stability to turn her deep ranges of motion into strong, controlled positions, and dynamic posture to access powerful positions more consistently.

The post-summer results speak for themselves: measurable gains in efficiency, stability, and power output. With her foundation now stronger than ever, Finnley is primed for a breakout junior year.

saw these dynamic KB switch lunges and had to give 'em a shot. i went lighter load, higher reps (15 lb, 3 sets × 15 reps) towards the end of a leg day. burnt me to an absolute crisp lol

lunges are such an underrated exercise to me. they're an easy, simple motion that are extremely modifiable for just about any training approach. primarily targeted muscles
are generally quads and glutes but lunges also force antagonistic hamstring activation and both synergistic and antagonistic hip activation for stabilization and balance
through the motion. load em heavy, push tempo, work eccentrics or mobility, the possibilities are endless.

loved the added dynamic of the kettlebell hand switch here. obviously adds a heavier load to the switch lunges to begin with but the mid air hand switch was a fun little twist that added increased core demand in keeping the excess
momentum stable and some nice coordination work. what i really liked about it was that it forces you to maintain a neutral spine and upright posture throughout a lunge variation that can be really easy to cheat a little with and overcompensate with other muscles you're not targeting. plus who doesn't love a little functional cardio at the end of a leg day😅 excited to experiment with this one more. try it out and lemme know what you think!

a little about me for y'all!

i haven't used Facebook a ton in the past (duh lol) but thought it would be a great way to connect with others and help you in any way throughout your own fitness journeys. as a lifelong athlete, becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist has given me the knowledge and tools to complement my experience to really help take your fitness to the next level

after being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2015, i lost a lot of things i enjoyed in life. i know anyone who goes through similar struggles understands. being the overly-competitive spirit i am, i took it almost as a challenge and fitness became my outlet from my issues. i can truly empathize with those of you fighting these battles and i'm really excited to share my experiences in hopes that i can help you that way too

come follow along with me!
