🚨🚨 BEWARE! THE FORM POLICE ARE WATCHING πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

I would hate to be the trainer that had everyone throwing around "Barbell Cheat Curls" (Bicep curls using your butt) to grow their biceps when you have weak arms in the first place. πŸ˜•

But I know that's not what's happening in the gym... So, what is? πŸ™…

Sally Ann was told lifting weights could hurt her and she had to have perfect form. πŸ’―

Sally Ann grabs 5lbs weights to complete her exercise. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

She did 30 reps by the time she started to feel the burn. πŸ•―οΈ

She grabs the 10lbs weights and notices it doesn't go as smoothly as the 30 reps with 5lbs.

She goes back to 5lbs because, "I'm not ready to go up in weight yet" πŸ₯΅

Hey YOU, you may not be Sally Ann, but you could have put 30lbs on your deadlift and not broken your back.

As a fitness professional, I can't promote the use of smoking. It obviously has negative health effects. 🚬

However, 65% of Americans are smoking w**d and seemingly all my clients ask about it. 🌿

So what does the research say? πŸ€”

There have been many studies done and while they all show negative health benefits, the one metric that moves in a positive direction? Bodyweight! πŸ’ͺ

BUT, IN MY OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!

The study doesn't tell the whole story. 🧐

Losing weight on the scale does not mean losing bodyfat. If you sit around and smoke w**d you are more likely to lose muscle mass with the fat so you may be a "lighter" version of yourself. βš–οΈ

But definitely not leaner or healthier. 🀒

With that said, if you choose to partake, you don't need to feel like you sabotaged your health and fitness goals. πŸ’ͺ

I always, always, always promote having a strength training program as the base for ALL of your fitness needs. πŸ’ͺπŸ‹οΈ

But before you read the caption: Make sure you slide to the end for a baby pic!! 🍼

Todays reason? Because it doesn't take much, if any, time away from life to achieve results. β°βŒ›

Busy parents tell me all the time, "I don't have time to make it to the gym" or "If I get my 45min HIIT class, I still have to drive, shower, etc..." πŸš—πŸšΏ

What if you didn't though? Because you don't. πŸ€”πŸ€·

Grab a band, dumbbell, or use your couch and lift it up 5-15 times every time you change a diaper. πŸ‘Ά

By the end of the day you've probably completed, 100 squats or 100 pushups or 100 couch lifts. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

You never sweat. You never showered. You never were 4 feet from your child. πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘

You will still get stronger. πŸ’ͺ

Now, Imagine you tried breaking up your 45minute HIIT routine in to 5 minute pieces. It doesn't work.

You'll get a better workout going for a walk. πŸƒ

It's time to ditch the million other ways of exercise you've already tried. Let's lift some weights!

Yes, lifting weights is for YOU.

I've never, ever, ever got someone to try weightlifting and had them come back and say,

"I wish I never did that"

However, a majority of folks that do HIIT classes come back at some point in there life and say,

"What the heck was I thinking?"

The programs free.

Your choice.

πŸŒ…Yoga on a Sunday AMπŸŒ…

You've probably heard me hate on Yoga on more than a few occasions.

It's because most people use it for all the wrong reasons. Yoga does not improve the range of motion in your shoulder or fix those "tight hips." ❌

Any relief from tightness is temporary, it works because it makes you relax.

So, why do it? πŸ™‹

🟒 Help reduce stress and anxiety: The focus on breathing and awareness is key to its calming effects.

🟒 Mental clarity and focus: The meditative aspects of yoga can improve mental clarity and concentration.

🟒 Personal Practice and Discipline: Practicing yoga regularly encourages discipline, patience, and dedication.

❌ Don't "skip the gym because you're going to yoga later" or that you "want to get lower in my squat"

Because yoga won't help those.

All jokes aside, I became a personal trainer because I had a nightmare personal experience the first time I walked into the gym.😱

I wanted to make sure no one that was ever in my shoes had to feel the way they did. 😭

But, I saw this video of me in 2019 pushing a sled and it looked like I pushed it through the damn mud.πŸ’©

I want to be careful of how we talk about "cheat meals" πŸ€”

I'm not saying you can't lose weight and enjoy your favorite foods. πŸ˜‹

Because you can, but the misconception is that if you follow a diet, you are expected to schedule in your "cheat day" meal. πŸ“…

Whatever you eat and enjoy, your body stimulates the reward systems in your brain. 🧠

When you stop eating these foods, you get cravings. 😫

Once you've gone a couple weeks without them you actually will STOP craving them. πŸ’ͺ

You know what happens after that? πŸ€”

You start to crave the foods of your new diet. πŸ₯—

It's like an alcoholic who quits drinking but decides to have 1 beer every Sunday for the football game. 🍺🏈

Doesn't that sound kinda stupid? 🀦
