St. Lucie Inlet Report – 12/14

Worked a defined edge in 135’ north of Fort Pierce to start the day and went 2 for 4 on sailfish bites. Midday we slid back south and found a tight bird pack that produced a quality gaffer mahi with a couple additional fish in the spread. The afternoon added a kingfish and more mahi to finish it off.

Put a family on a couple first sailfish releases and wrapped up a clean mixed-bag day. Stuart continues to show why it’s one of the most consistent fisheries on the coast.

Today we watched a piece of wild history go to the bottom off Stuart 🌊

This 226’ freighter, the M/V Borocho, was once busted by the Coast Guard with hundreds of kilos of co***ne hidden in her tanks out in international waters. 

Now she’s getting a second life as an artificial reef off the St. Lucie Inlet – the new Boo McCulley Reef – built to create habitat, attract more fish, and give divers and anglers a new spot to explore. 

Crazy to think this ship went from smuggling routes to a permanent home on the bottom right here in our backyard. Can’t wait to come back and fish this thing once it’s all stacked up with life.

What a day aboard Catch of the Day Charters! We hooked into a beautiful Blue Marlin right off Stuart, Florida — something you rarely see here. 💥

This crew came out to celebrate Dad’s 70th birthday, and the ocean delivered in the biggest way possible. Watching that marlin light up the spread and start airing out had everyone fired up — a moment none of us will ever forget.

We rounded out the day with some mahi and blackfin tuna for dinner, making it the perfect mix of bucket-list action and fresh fillets for the table.

Huge congrats to the birthday legend and his family on an unforgettable catch! 💪
