St. Petersburg was selected as a Trail Town because of the Pinellas Trail’s proximity to four distinct arts districts: the Warehouse Arts District, the EDGE District, the Central Arts District, and the Waterfront Arts District City of St. Petersburg — a uniquely St. Pete combination of culture, community, and movement.
St. Pete Steps Into the Spotlight: Florida Greenways and Trails Council Comes to the Sunshine City
The Trail Town designation is more than a title — it's a turning point. Tues 3/24/26: Let's meetup in Safety Harbor and ride across Tampa Bay on the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
Starting location is at the north end of Phillipe Park. We then ride through the park into Safety Harbor, continue on the bike path adjacent to Bayshore Blvd to the causeway.
This is a no-drop ride with a cruising speed of about 15-17. Be sure to bring water, spare tubes etc because there are no services on the causeway.

Work is starting on a new, special “shared use” bike/ped trail from Gandy Blvd to I-275. Note: It looks like FDOT wants this to be a success and has planned a path with physical barriers along 4th St N to separate the pedestrians and cyclists from vehicles. This trail will connect to the I-275 bridge to Tampa and is expected to be done by the end of this year.

Meet the cyclists building Pinellas’ first mountain bike trail
SWAMP (the Southwest Association of Mountain Bike Pedalers) wholly maintains 130 miles of trails in parks around the Tampa Bay area. For many local riders who enjoy them without getting their hands dirty, there’s still one drawback: The Bay’s nearest mountain bike trails are all a one-to-two-hou...

Florida’s electric bike rules may be about to change, and your voice matters.
Florida House Bill 243 and Senate Bill 382 would create a new “electric motorcycle” (e-moto) category for higher-powered e-bikes, add license and age requirements for certain e-bikes, and update how crashes and driver education address e-bikes and e-scooters. These changes could affect where and how people ride, especially on shared-use paths and in neighborhoods.
Florida Bicycle Association has put together a plain-language summary of what’s in the bill, including:
- How “e-motos” would be defined and where they could ride
- New license and age rules for Class 3 e-bikes
- Fines for modifying e-bikes beyond factory limits
- Proposed updates to crash data and driver education
We want to bring your real-world experience to lawmakers. After you read the article, please share your thoughts through our Community Feedback Form so we can better represent people who ride in Florida.
