Earlier this season, I brought this beautiful hogfish back to the boat, my first catch while experimenting with spearfishing. Spearfishing has opened up a new perspective on our local marine life, allowing me to get up close with species like hogfish and grouper and observe their natural patterns and behaviors firsthand.

This experience has deepened my understanding of fish movements and habitats—skills that are invaluable on our charter trips. Getting to know their natural curiosities, water/current preferences and prey at eye level has added even more depth to fishing from the boat. Can't complain about the first few weeks back on mainly an inshore bite. We have brought grouper, kingfish, redfish, snook and trout to the boat to start the season. And with a brand new engine on the Hanson we are set to speed into fall fishing!
