This is fantastic advice that Jesse gives! 💪
In 2009, I tried out for an over-40 basketball team.
70 guys were competing for just 6 spots to play overseas in Israel.
The coach sent out a workout program to help everyone prepare.
I realized something:
If I followed it exactly, I’d be in the same shape as everyone else.
So I doubled it.
For 45 days straight, I ran double conditioning sessions on a dirt road near my house...
“Until you almost puke” kind of effort.
Because I knew I couldn’t outplay them…
But I could out-prepare them.
At tryouts, most of the players were better than me.
So I leaned into the one thing I had:
Conditioning.
During the first scrimmage, I picked the best player on last year’s team and guarded him full court, nose to nose.
Six minutes into the game, he was completely out of breath.
I clapped. I yelled. I brought attention to it.
And in my head, I just kept saying:
“He wasn’t on the dirt road with me.”
I got the spot.
Not because I was the most talented.
Because I was the most prepared.
If you can’t win on skill... win on effort.
If you can’t win on talent.. win on preparation.
Find your edge.
Then go all in on it.
You don’t have to be the most talented… just find your point of differentiation.
Same rule applies in business.

Have you “DECIDED” to be successful or just hoped you would eventually be successful?
Your brain is the foundation of your success. When you make a decision to be successful, there are certain physiological processes that take place in your brain.
The first process is stimulus creation. When you decide to undertake a particular course of action, you task your brain with forming a stimulus – an idea or impression that can motivate and direct you toward achieving your goals. This stimulus paves the way for further success by providing an impetus and vision of what is possible when you take consistent action towards achieving something.
The second process is focus management. When you make decisions about what tasks or objectives to pursue, it requires significant amounts of mental discipline in order to stay on track with each different endeavor. This involves managing both your conscious and subconscious focus, as well as controlling any distracting thoughts or feelings which could potentially derail your progress.
Finally, the third process is decision-making. Making decisions puts us in control of our lives and allows us to take ownership over our paths to success. It takes confidence, self-assurance and willpower in order to effectively block out external pressures and negativity; allowing us to make decisions based on our own judgment and values rather than succumbing solely to societal expectations. With this kind of decision-making in place w we can confidently move forward with clarity and purpose on our path toward success.

In what ways (not the person) have you compared yourself to someone else in the past week…
How much joy did it bring you?
What will you do moving forward to create joy?
One thing to consider… what if you only focused in on the gift(s) you have that others don’t have?!
If you don’t know what that is, ask 5 or 10 of your closest friends or family who can help you identity what your “unique gift” is!
Go get it! 💪👍🙏
