A packed student section dressed in construction themed outfits turned out to be just what Kennedy needed, taking their first league win as a team that's been "under construction." With a 1-4 start to their season the Trojans have had multiple flashes of brilliance but never seemed to sync at just the right time despite the hard work.
Taking an early 5pt lead it was big kills vs Pioneer errors that opened the show. Continuing to push, Kennedy expanded to 12-5 drawing even more power from their front three. Errors would come, but the Trojans held back a Western run and brushed off the dirt to forge through to a 25-21. Western would give a re-energized effort in set two taking an early lead. But the Trojans fired back from the corners and the defense helped jolt the team up from a long lasting one point game to once again take the win. Final round action saw yet another huge burst from the Pioneer offense. With both sides attacking, errors set in for the Trojans, allowing Western to surge and quiet the home fans. But Kennedy took a timeout and came back with a refocused effort. Exploding in the front row the Trojans crept back in late in the round. And backed by a handful of miraculous saves stepped over the lead and finished strong to finish the sweep.
Kennedy travels to Delphian on Thursday and are back home on Monday to welcome St Paul.

Sprague remains #1 at 3-0 in league and 10-1 overall after intense battle at McNary.
A back-and-forth duel between the teams saw repeated ties and some high energy front row effort push momentum across the net. As Sprague dialed in their attacking power for a three point lead late in the round McNary rallied, spurring the Olympians to dig in and find another level that lifted them to a 25-18 win. But errors set in for the orange and black allowing McNary to go on a 4pt run in set two, and the teams would lock up again at 6-6 and fight for an advantage through 18-18. A timeout refocused the Olympians intensity and with a series of huge plays on defense propelled the squad to their second win at 25-23. Set three saw the return of unforced errors plague the Sprague team allowing McNary to drive ahead on another scoring run. But the Oly's would regroup again and use power at the net to rise up at 12-12. With the Celts having a run of errors as well Sprague dialed up their attack pushing back against the challenge. An ace and a big kill from the corner launched them ahead on a 6pt run before sideouts would stall the advance, and McNary would push back after a timeout. But Spragues composure fueled the fight, energizing the team to sail through for the sweep at 25-22. Sprague will welcome North Salem on Wednesday and travel to South Salem for a league rivalry showdown on Thrursday.

Crusader girls soccer remains undefeated at 3-0 after a battle with visiting Rogue River showcases the teams explosive offensive quickness. Although locked mostly at midfield for the start of the contest it was just 9 minute in when Jenna Greenwood outran a 1v1 challenge to find the back of the net for the Crusaders first goal. The score energized the teams defense as well which proved valuable as the Rogue squad pushed back quickly with some tough forward drives. But the visitors hammered through, scoring on a try after a corner kick to equalize the board at 1-1 prompting the Crusaders to find another gear on offense. Returning back to their scoring side Salem out-hustled a defender awarding them a corner kick of their own, and it was Sloane James who punched one through on a cross giving the Crusaders a 2-1 lead going into halftime. After the break it was the Salem defense and keeper who earned their pay having to shield the net from an onslaught of Rogue attempts to even the game. Strong attacks by the Chieftans pressured Crusader back row efforts who were tested multiple times, but manage to clear a long ball late towards the scoring end. A handball whistle in the box awarded a free kick and Madilyn Meadows crushed the shot. Now ahead 3-1 the Crusaders locked in and squeezed the final minutes out of the clock to hold on for the victory, a win that lifts the team to the #5 statewide ranking. The crew will welcome Oregon Episcopal on Tuesday and Toledo on Thursday, both are NL pairings.

Right from the whistle Silverton girls soccer attacked the defending Summit Storms goal taking multiple hard runs inside the 20yd mark. Well timed passes down the right side line eventually paid off as Chloe Brooks overpowered a 1v1 challenge on a cross, finding the back of the net on a shot just six minutes in. The goal energized the Foxes even further but it was Summit who was spurred to action by the sudden sting. A midfield battle ensued with strikers attempts to clear the ball becoming more and more physical which quickly revealed the Foxes ability to stay composed. Several more open shot attempts would lean wide just missing the mark while the Foxes defense was equally hard at work shielding the Storm from the far end. After the half it was Summit who ramped up the power. Holding control from inside the 40 the Storm made a constant push forward finally finding a gap at 22 minutes and tipping one through for the tie goal. Foxes defense responded by dialing up the intensity, drawing energy from a series of heroic saves by their keeper. Silvertons attacking middle launched passes down the far side finding feet on three more scoring attempts. But tries went wide or were snapped up by the Storm goalie. This left the Fox defense holding the key, which they did impressively. Surviving a strong corner kick try and three 1v1 runs inside the box Silverton hung on to end the match 1-1 sending both teams back to the benches to remain undefeated. The Foxes are on to another tough challenge as they head to Marist Catholic on Tuesday, and return home Thursday to welcome Lake Oswego.

Crosshill Christian continues their undefeated streak moving to 5-0 after sweeping Monroe 3-0. Ranked 4th overall statewide the Eagles dominated the court in set one with power at the net from Payton Kaufman and Quinn Sing, jumping ahead 7-1 in the early minutes. Defensive hustle was another key, as was a series of aces from Corina Philips that expanded the lead to 18-7 late in the round. Monroe scrambled to push back but the Eagles stayed locked in taking the win 25-11. The Eagles carried their momentum into set two with some big plays from Bella Boling and Samara Bennett helping withstand the Dragons offensive push. Abagail Holmstrom and Sailor Metzger joined the Crosshill front row muscle forging ahead in the set and driving up to 20-11. Sadie Troyer lead a late attack for the Eagles grasping the win at 25-12. The final set was rinse and repeat for the Eagles using composed teamwork and focus to subdue a valiant Monroe effort. Defensive hustle continued, combined with the front row strength to the eventual 25-9 finish, ending the match with the 3-0 win.
The Eagles travel to Waldport on Monday and welcome East Linn Christian on Tuesday.

Lady Cavaliers soccer moves to 3-0 with an incredible 19-1 goal scoring total so soon in the season. A 7-0 win over the visiting Portland Christian Royals jv squad wasnt a huge challenge for the Cav's, but fans got a display of the teams amazing teamwork and attacking power as a preview of whats ahead. Within the first minute of action Kinzie Lazarus found the back of the net for the Cavs first goal followed by Addison Topaz who scored on a corner kick set at the 5 minute mark. Ahead by 2 the Cavaliers relentless offensive pressure continued to stun Royals defenders who put up a solid fight, but Blanchets coordinated effort contained much of the play inside the 40yd line. At 20 mins in Cavalier Bella Vargas beat a 1v1 challenge to ruffle the net for Blanchets third goal sending the teams to halftime at 3-0. After the break there were goals from Aubrey Schomus, Valeria Gonzalez-Hernandez, and Isabelle Johnson, pushing the total to 6-0 on pile-ups inside the box highlighting the squads teamwork in the box. Maddie Olson would score the final goal on a well sent cross from the right side, chipping it past the keeper for the 7-0 finish. The teams energy was electric at the horn, not particularly shocked by the win, but by the excitement of their next match against powerhouse Rogue River. " This is gonna be the best game of the year," was repeated by several players gathered at the benches. "You dont wanna miss it!" Rogue River is currently ranked #3 statewide and is 1-0. Blanchet, ranked #9, will welcome them to the pitch Friday 9/11 the starting whistle is at 4pm.

Colton entered the ring against St Paul and Regis giving both powerhouse teams a serious run and some tense moments during long rallys. Where many teams might be overwhelmed by the challenge Colton dug in and made some thrilling returns on repeated kills pushing back during their contests. Trading rounds point for point gave fans an edge of their seat day watching the Viking teamwork adapt throughout the afternoon. Being their first two official contests Colton meshed quickly as a team and will put the lessons to work against Sheridan in their next home game on the 15th.

Regis volleyball flexes their on court hustle taking wins against St Paul (3-1) and Colton (3-0) yesterday, impressing fans with some spectacular back row defense. Battling stride for stride with the Bucks saw a Rams squad overcome several challenges and work to adjust from back row defense to front row power on many occasions. Dropping set 3 during the fight brought a surge of energy through the ranks for set 4 where well timed setting resulted in big kills for the overtaking win. Colton presented another set of challenges as the Rams diversified their attacks. Player substitutions and high powered net level hitting swept the match 3-0 showing the teams resilience against a strong Viking defense. Regis moves to 2-0 in league play and welcomes North Clackamas at home today. They host Country Christian on Thursday.

When Isaiah Imig found the back of the net just 9 minutes into play Crusader fans knew the intensity of the match would turn into a thriller. And when Jefferson scored the equalizer just minutes later the tensions rose. But Crusader defenders quickly went to work shutting down the midfield drive by the challengers, and Salems offense turned up the power inside the 40yd mark. Miguel Sum-Siquina drilled a ball from 20 yds to put Salem back in command and Mathew Dumanovsky launched one past the Jefferson keeper two plays later to set his squad up 3-1. From there it was Crusader power that dominated the near end of the pitch with repeated attempts and superior hustle holding Jefferson defenders at bay. After the half attacks shifted to the box where Somto Nwaele scored on a header from a set piece driving the lead to 4-1, and bumped in another header on a corner kick to make it two in a row. As time ran down substitutions followed for the green and black putting fresh talent into the mix. But the pressure remained high, and shots on goal continued with taps to the box giving fans some great highlights. Two more well hit balls would find their way into the net for Salem before the final horn giving the Crusaders the 7-1 win. The finish puts the team at 1-0 in league play and puts them in the #3 position overall at 2-0-1. They travel to Pleasant Hill on the 11th and return to welcome La Pine on the 15th.

Fans in neon colors and a new mascot for the Warriors celebrate a 3-0 sweep by Willamette Valley Christian over CS Lewis at home. Steady and solid defensive play by the Warriors back row supplied front row hitters with the fuel they needed to dominate set one and ramp up the teams energy. The 25-13 win propelled the squad in set two as they worked their net power for an impressive 8-1 start. The Watchmen dialed up their defensive push and found a rally of side-outs to keep up the pressure, but the Warriors hustle on the dig pushed the tide back with ease, ending the set in a 25-13 win. Set three was more of a challenge for WVCS as they struggled to climb back from some unforced errors. The Watchmen attacked during the rut and it was a show of resilience for the Warriors who pulled up to finally tie at 13-13. Battling point for point the teams matched for a run of points before the Warriors would find power again from the front row to overcome a double match point for the 26-24 victory. The first league win of the season for the team puts them at 3-1 overall. They travel to Perrydale on Wednesday and to Blanchet the following Saturday for tournament action.
