A special thank you to our safety team, Nate and Kyla who took up the rear. They maintained radio contact with several team members along the course so we could make sure all paddlers made it through the tricky spots uneventfully. They did a great job!

Hello Paddlers,
Thank you for your participation in this event to benefit the Maui residents affected by the recent fires. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go towards Maui recovery and the Maui strong fund. .
IF YOU ARE PADDLING, PLEASE READ. This email is an overview of “Paddles Up for Maui” event:
-The event will start at Independence Riverview Park in Inependence, OR and will end at the Wallace Marine Park in Salem, OR. The route is approximately 11 miles.
-Attached is a photograph of the route highlighting some potential shallow spots in red.
Schedule:
8:00 am Check in at Independence. Pick up T-shirt and raffle ticket.
8:45 am Pre paddle meeting: Event course, time frames, recognizing the Maui tragedy.
9:00 am Everyone in water. Paddle begins. Approximately 11 miles.
1:00 pm Meet at Wallace for Raffle. Prizes include: hot air balloon rides, Kialoa apparel, Bamboo Grove Hawaiian Grille gift certificates, and a JR Brush Works Tattoo. You do not have to be present to win, if you turn in your raffle ticket with your name and phone number.
-We can provide limited shuttling of paddlers back to Independence at the conclusion of the event to retrieve their vehicles. Someone will remain at Wallace Marine Park with your kayaks, OC1s, SUPs, etc. until your return for pickup.
-A safety / support boat will follow the group. Medical staff on board.
-Ohana Hoe Outrigger club members will be wearing red club shirts to assist.
