Festivus 5K

This was a nice acknowledgment from both Beth and the city of Salem! ❤️ It is a lot of work to direct a road race, and I’m so lucky to have my family, the Northshore Education Consortium, local run clubs, and Salem community members to support me each year.

As a part of the City of Salem's celebration of Women's History month, we are proud to honor local hero Cindy Johnson, advocate for autism awareness and community changemaker!

"For 14 years, Cindy has organized Salem's Festivus 5k, in support of the Northshore Education Consortium, which provides services for students with autism. Born out of a love for her son and for Seinfeld, her efforts have helped raise over $250,000 to support students with autism!" - School Committee Member Beth Anne Cornell

Thank you, Cindy, for all of your incredible hard work on this beloved community tradition, and so much more that you do for the Salem community!

This year, Mayor Dominick Pangallo and the City of Salem are highlighting the strength, resilience, contributions and achievements of everyday heroes in our community throughout Women's History Month.

Today is Festivus! It’s a great day to wear your F5K shirt! Time to embrace your roots! Get your pole out of the crawl space, eat your meatloaf, air your grievances, and perform your feats of strength! And remember it’s not over until the head of household is pinned!
