Parks Pilates Hello! We are a husband/wife Pilates teaching team and studio owners located in Salem, SC on Lake Keowee. We'd love to work with you!

Getting up off the floor is one of those everyday moves you don't think about until it starts taking a little planning. Playing with the grandkids on the rug. Stretching after a long hike. Climbing out of a low beach chair.

This is the Teaser on the tower. You start lying down, holding the Push Through Bar, and roll up slowly to sitting with your legs lifted. The bar gives you a little help on the way up and keeps you steady on the way down, so you can find your strength without rushing.

Stronger core. Easier mornings. 💙

What everyday move would you love to feel easier? Tell us below.

We get asked this a lot, so here's what makes a first visit feel easy. 💙

✔️ Start with a Private Lesson if you can. It's our favorite first step. We'll do an assessment as part of that first lesson, learn how you move and what you love to do, and recommend the class that fits you best.
✔️ Rather jump into a group class? Beginner Pilates, Pilates for Balance & Posture, and Release and Restore are all great places to start.
✔️ Fill out your waiver online before your first visit.
✔️ Come 10 minutes early to your first class. You'll fill out a short intake form and talk with your instructor about your goals and anything we should know before you start.
✔️ Wear grip socks or go barefoot. (Forgot your socks? We have them at the studio.)
✔️ Skip the strong perfume. Our room is cozy and shared.
✔️ If plans change, let us know at least 12 hours ahead so someone on the waitlist can take your spot.

Classes are capped at five, so nobody gets lost in the back row. We'll learn your name and help you with every exercise.

Fall Saturdays in the Upstate. 🧡

Tailgate set up by mid-morning. A long walk in from the parking lot. Stadium steps (so many steps). Hours on your feet, up and down with every big play, and then the walk back to the car.

Game day turns out to be a full-body day, even from the stands. Strong legs for the stairs, steady balance in a crowd, and a back that still feels good on Sunday morning. That's the kind of strength we're building in the studio, so you can keep saying yes to days like this.

Who's heading to a game this fall? Tell us your team. (We think you can guess ours. 😄)

"I'm not flexible enough for Pilates." We hear it a lot, usually right before someone's first class.

Here's the good news: most people don't walk in flexible. Flexibility is something Pilates helps you build, not something you need to bring with you.

In class, we adjust the springs, the footbar and your range of motion for each exercise so it fits you that day. Some people reach their toes. Some reach their knees. Both are doing it right. Over time, tight hips start to loosen, the backs of your legs let go a little more, and getting down to the floor (and back up) feels easier.

Our classes are capped at five, so we can meet you right where you are. We teach people, not programs. 💙 If you're not sure where to start, a private assessment is a great first step.

What would you want to ask before your first class? Leave it below and we may answer it in a future post.

Fall around here comes with a lot of sitting. Road trips to see the leaves. Long Saturdays in the stands. One more episode on a cool evening. 🍂

Two of our favorite ways to undo it happen on the Push Through Bar on the Tower.

Seated Cat: open the hips, then open the chest.

Push Through Seated Front: legs long, reach up on the bar, stretch forward toward your toes, then sit up tall.

Both are great for spinal mobility and flexibility. Your back gets to move the way it was made to, the backs of your legs get a long, easy stretch, and turning, reaching and getting up off the couch start to feel a little easier.

Which gets you more: the car, the desk, or the couch?

Almost every sport we love around the lake asks for the same thing: a good, easy turn.

The golf swing. A tennis serve. Reaching to hit that pickleball you almost missed. Even looking over your shoulder to back the boat trailer down the ramp.

That turn comes from a strong core, hips that move freely, and an upper back that can rotate so your low back doesn't do all the work. It's exactly what our Pilates for Rotational Sports class is built around.

Starting this Tuesday, October 13, we're adding an evening time: Tuesdays at 5:00 PM, along with Thursdays at 10:00 AM. If daytime classes haven't fit your week, this one's for you. 💜

Classes are capped at five. Save your spot for this Tuesday here:

Our classes are capped at five. That's on purpose.

With five people in the room, we know your name, what you're working toward, the shoulder that gets cranky on Mondays, and the trip you're getting ready for. We can change a spring, swap an exercise, or give you a cue that's meant for you.

We teach people, not programs. 💙

If a big class has never felt like your kind of place, this might be. Start with a private assessment at parkspilates.com.

Fall in the Upstate means more trail days for us. 🍂

Uneven rock. A wet patch you didn't see coming. A step up that's higher than you'd like, and then the step back down. Hiking asks for balance the whole way, not just once.

That's a big part of why we do what we do. Steady ankles, strong hips, and a core that keeps you upright when the ground isn't flat. That's what lets you say yes to the hike and still feel good on the drive home.

Where's your favorite fall hike around here? We're always looking for a new one.

One of our favorite things to notice doesn't happen on the reformer at all.

It's when someone walks through the door a little taller than they did a few months ago. Shoulders a bit further from their ears. Head stacked over their ribs. Breathing a little easier.

And they notice it too. Sometimes it's a better golf posture, sometimes it's catching their reflection in a store window, and sometimes a friend says, "You're standing taller." 💜

That's what steady core and posture work does over time. It shows up in the grocery line, on the first tee, and in photos with the grandkids.

What's something you've noticed changing since you started?
