Registration is now open for Session 1. Come on over and learn to skate with us! There was no ice the first season - just the bowling alley.

What is now known as Marblehead Youth Hockey Association was formed in 1958 by Bud Orne and Collie Williams. Bud and Collie took a group of interested kids and used the bowling alley at the old YMCA on Pleasant Street and did just stick work. Prior to this, Marblehead kids who wanted to play hockey had to play in programs outside of town. The following season, 1959-1960, Bud and Collie got a littl

Despite the challenges of 2020, registration for our Learn To Play / Whack A Puck program is now open! While we hope to return to our community-wide introductory program next year, we are pleased to offer a program for skaters looking to progress in the sport. Players must be able to skate on their own in full gear, including a mask. Due to Covid restrictions, parents are not allowed on the ice. One parent is allowed to be in the rink. Dear MYHA:

Unfortunately, the Hockey Gods were not 100% aligned with Governor Baker and we will be taking (by mandate) what we all hope will only be a brief reprieve from the ice – no practices or games for two weeks beginning tonight at 5PM and running through 12:01AM on Nov. 7th.

I’d like to thank all our members – Participants, Parents, Coaches, our Board of Directors – for doing their best to manage and comply with all our new hockey protocols for the greater health and safety of our community.

As we all know, hockey is a fast game and a lot can change during the course of a period. Let’s keep our feet moving and carry on with strong sticks as we look forward. Fingers crossed that this is just a break between periods in our 2020-21 season!

As such, we aim to set up some dry-land hockey training – likely at Bud Orne with partnership from Parks & Rec. Stay tuned. Sign up genius and schedule forthcoming.

Naturally, any and all compliance (masks on and up with social distancing - "let's keep the 6!") will be in play for any such dry-land opportunities.

Let’s keep our collective helmet on and stay as positive as possible – it's disappointing news but we’ll make it through this.

Yes!

We all look forward to seeing you at the rinks starting tomorrow night for Pond Hockey. Hockey is back – here we go! Above all – stay safe, healthy, and comply with all back-to-the-rink protocols. Please familiarize yourself with the Connery Rink protocols that all parents have received via email, and check http://marbleheadyouthhockey.org/schedule/ for your participant’s events.

The coolest sport on earth! 🏒

5 Reasons to Sign Up for Hockey The benefits of playing hockey might be obvious to most people who are already deeply ingrained in the sport. For those who have little or no experience with hockey, however, some convincing might be in order. After all, everyone who loves the sport now was a beginner with no exposure at one point

Calling all registered MYHA players!!! President Payne is issuing a Summer Sniper Challenge. For those that go 30 for 30 (complete all 30 ProSkill Development training sessions in the next 100 days) participants will receive a stylish-retro MYHA “30 for 30” truckers cap to proudly don over their lettuce at the start of our MYHA 20-21 season. Note: The completion window runs June 1 – September 1 and parental verification of completion is required.
* In addition, for those that also complete 10,000 puck-touches and 10,000 shots – that’s 200 puck touches per day for 100 days… or 20,000 biscuits worth of off-ice hockey skill building (plus/minus depending on age group)! – participants will receive a MYHA “Summer Sniper Challenge” practice jersey to proudly wear next season while showcasing their newly acquired dangling and shooting skills. Note: The completion window runs June 1 – September 1 and parental verification of completion is also required.
Daily sniper puck handling requirements by age group:
* Bantams > 10,000 puck touches + 10,000 shots = 100+100/day x 100 days
* P*e Wees > 7,500 puck touches + 7,500 shots = 75+75/day x 100 days
* Squirts > 5,000 puck touches + 5,000 shots = 50+50/day x 100 days
* Mites > 2,500 puck touches + 2,500 shots = 25+25/day x 100 days
* The goal is daily recurring puck touches and shooting.
So get those snipe-a-gino’s pizzas going as we gear up for our 2020/2021 season!
