Skyler was diagnosed with leukemia in early August and is currently in remission after receiving treatment at KU Med. As one of our amazing coaches at Central Kansas Young Lions, he has given so much to our kids, and now we want to give back to him and his family.

Enjoy live music, a silent auction, raffles, $10 pulled pork meals, and BIG grand-prize drawings!

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to Skyler and his family. Come out, have some fun, and show them that their community is behind them! ❤️

CKYL Try-It-Out Clinic & Parents Meeting

If your kiddo has ever wanted to try wrestling, this is the perfect chance to come check it out, learn some basics, meet the coaches, and see what Central Kansas Young Lions is all about! No commitment, No charge, just come give it a try!

Join us Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th from 1:00–2:30 PM at the CKYL Gym!

Following the Sunday clinic, we’ll have our Parent Meeting at 2:45 PM to go over the upcoming Folkstyle season, tournament schedules, registration, and more!

Folkstyle season will begin Sunday November 1st.

WE’RE ASKING OUR CKYL FAMILY TO SHOW UP FOR ONE OF OUR OWN!

We want to tell you about one of our very own CKYL coaches, Skyler Hiebsch, who is currently going through treatment for leukemia.

Skyler has spent countless hours coaching and supporting our wrestlers, and now we want to rally around him and his family as they face this fight.

A quick update from his wife, Erica: Skyler is doing okay this morning. His ANC is at .5, and Thursday is a big day with his bone marrow biopsy and port placement. They’re hoping to have results Friday, and we’re all praying for REMISSION! ❤️🙏

We’re sharing this because we want our CKYL family, wrestling family, friends, and community to know what Skyler and his family are going through and give everyone an opportunity to show their support.

On October 24th, there will be a benefit for Skyler at Brookville Park with a Co****le Tournament, Silent Auction, Wh**ky Pull, Pulled Pork Meal, Balance Nutrition, and more!

For now, we’re asking everyone to keep Skyler and his family in your prayers, especially this week. ❤️

CKYL TRAINING CENTER UPDATE!!

We are SO excited to share some progress!!

THE BUILDING IS COMPLETELY ENCLOSED, ALL THE WALLS ARE UP, AND OUR MAIN ENTRANCE IS COMPLETED (minus adding a window)!! Every little step gets us closer to having our new Den for our Young Lions.

A HUGE shoutout to Josh Werber! We seriously could not have gotten as far as we have without him! We appreciate all his time, hard work, and everything he is doing to help us get here!

And thank you again to Diehl Enterprises for helping us with disposal, and to Michael Aita for helping us move that big ol’ door!

NEXT UP: Concrete cutting so we can get our plumbing pipes laid, and then we’re moving on to plumbing, insulating, HVAC, and electrical.

We still have a LOT to do, but we are getting there!!

2026 USA WRESTLING PRESEASON NATIONALS

Team Kansas will be heading up to West Des Moines, Iowa for USA Wrestling's 2026 Preseason Nationals this fall. The event will take place October 28th – November 1, 2026.

ATHLETES
Funds are budgeted from USAWKS each season to assist in organizing and subsidizing a group from Kansas to attend this event.

A $100 deposit will hold your wrestler’s spot. We will not know the exact total cost until we have final registration numbers.

It’s that time! USA Wrestling Memberships for the 2026–2027 season are now available to purchase/renew!

If your wrestler plans to continue being in the room for practices or participate in events starting September 1, they will need to have their USA Wrestling Membership purchased/renewed by September 1.

If you’re waiting until Folkstyle season starts at the end of October/beginning of November, you don’t need to purchase your membership yet. You can wait until your wrestler is ready to get back in the room.

Hello Central Kansas Young Lions Wrestling Families!

Just a reminder that 2025–2026 USAWKS memberships expire Monday, August 31st.
If your wrestler will be practicing or competing after August 31st, please make sure their 2026–2027 USA Wrestling membership is purchased/renewed before getting back on the mat.

Memberships for the 2026-27 season will be available for purchase on August 21, 2026.

ALL WRESTLERS MUST HAVE A CURRENT MEMBERSHIP TO PRACTICE OR COMPETE AFTER AUGUST 31ST for insurance purposes.

This also applies to coaches who will be getting on the mat to help coach or work with the kids. We just want to make sure everyone is covered and ready to hit the mat!

If your wrestler isn't currently practicing or competing and won't be in the near future, you can wait to purchase their membership until closer to the start of our 2026–2027 Folkstyle season in October/November.

We are still working out the details for the upcoming Folkstyle season, including schedules and other information. We’ll keep everyone updated as we get everything figured out!
