Update: Championship Game

The boys in blue just didn’t show up in game #3. The bats were dead. The Topeka Flyers took the lead early, on some overthrows at home and we just couldn’t climb back into the game. Back to work we go! Better luck next time boys! We ended with 2nd place in the Wake & Rake!

Update from the Wake & Rake Wood Bat Tourney:

In game #2, Max Helget brought the heat from the mound! The boys in blue were on top of their defense again and the bats were in motion! The Spikes shut down the Wamego Raiders in the 3rd with the run rule, 15-0. The Spikes take on the Topeka Flyers in the ship at 5:10! Go Spikes!

Update from the Wake & Rake Wood Bat tourney…

Aidan Hammond with a very solid performance on the mound and some great defense behind him! The boys in blue came away with the win! Game 2 at 11:40

29 years ago today, The Sandlot hit theaters ⚾

It was an early morning at the ball field for the team mascot (Spike😉 see below) and the parents. The Spikes took on the Wichita Vipers in bracket play and after a slow start, they ramped things up in the bottom of the 5th when Juliean Espada hit a Grand Slam, adding 4 more points to the board. Max Helget started us off on the mound this morning and pitched 5 great innings with Aidan Hammond in as the closer for the last two inngings of the game! The pitching was solid and the bats came alive! The boys in blue walked away with the victory, defeating the Vipers 7-2. The Spikes will move on and face off against the Panthers at 1:45. Go Spikes!⚾️

In Game #2 the Spikes faced off against the Wichita Golden Bulls! Graham started us off on the mound, followed by Lyrik and then Cason. After a tough battle, the Bulls defeated the Spikes, 7 to 4. We saw some great hits from Graham, Lyrik, Noah, Max and Aidan and some phenomenal base running by our speed demons, Cason and Tyler. The 13’s ended the day 1-1. They will face off against the Vipers bright and early at 8:30am on Sunday! Go Spikes!!⚾️

The Spikes pulled off the win in game one in Goddard. They defeated the Wichita Vipers 6 to 4. Aidan Hammond started the season off for us on the mound and delivered a stellar performance!! We saw some awesome hits down the batting order and the Spikes came away with the victory! They take on the Wichita Golden Bulls at 2:45! Go Spikes!!⚾️

It’s opening weekend for the Spikes! The 13’s head to Goddard for the Demarini Opening Day Shootout and the other age groups of Spikes teams, will be opening up the season this weekend in Salina! Good luck to all the teams! Let’s play ball!
